How much does the nameof your undergrad institution matter?

I have a good GPA, and am writing a thesis, but I come from a relatively small and unheard of university in central Manitoba - Brandon University (http://www.brandonu.ca)./ I'm wondering if this will hurt my chances at getting in to a grad school? Obviously, I'm sure I won't be getting into an Ivy League institution anytime soon, but for a more middle-of-the-road grad school, will my school hold me back?

I don't think it will hurt your chances at all. The most important thing is to have a strong GPA, letters of recommendation, test scores (if applicable), and writing sample or portfolio (if applicable). What grad schools really want to see is whether you'll be able to handle graduate-level work, and with everything you've said it sounds like you are in a pretty advantageous place. For each school, go to their website to get a better idea of their specific requirements (if you can't find them, call or e-mail the department for more info).

It wiil not hurt your changes of getting into grad school. I went to a fairly unknown school also. Many of my classmates went on to law and med school.

I don't think it matters. As long as you did well and have good references, you should be able to get into a middle-high ranked school.

It depends on what you want to be... Doctor, it probably matters... Anything else, not a big deal. Most employers are impressed that you have a degree... they don't really care where it was from.
