Requests for prayer?

For those of you who go out of your way to be rude and insensitive to those asking for prayer - it seems to me that you are more concerned about your agenda than the fact that these are people who are dealing with some sort of tragedy or distress in their lives. I almost want to compare it with the actions of the members of the Westboro Baptist Church. They are more concerned about pushing their agenda of hate than the fact that people are grieving. If you don't believe in prayer, why even bother to click on the question? Try a little compassion, no matter what your belief.

I've seen somebody die caused by prayer. He had put so much trust in prayer, that he skipped taking his medicines.

If people put too much trust in the power of prayer, it can harm. Prayer doesn't work, and should at least have a little warning to come with it.

I know I should respect everybodies religious freedom. I also feel it's my duty to point out that prayer can actually harm innocent, gullible people.

It has absolutely nothing to do with my own agenda. I think it the compassionate thing to do, to warn people about the risks. There are people putting too much trust in the so called power of prayer. There are actually real people dieing from it.

Of course I won't jump in the middle of a prayer requests, where a mom asks to pray for her sick son or whatever. But I will tell her that my thoughts are with her, and that I truly hope she doesn't forget about any proper medical attention.

When we draw near to the needy, we draw near to Christ.

Prayer works, it's basically a tuning into the spiritual world of heaven. God does listen and reacts, and or sends help.

The religious section sure gets a lot of non-religious people. Unless you call Christian bashing a religion, since they do it religiously.

    I agree with you.

But sometimes it's frustrating when ignorance is flaunted in front of you, even if its coming from a vulnerable place.

It costs nothing to be kind and compassionate.

Try a little less smarmy holier than thou preaching and people might just be more receptive to your remarks.
