Eczema - any cure?

My 6 year old has eczema badly. We have tried the lotions, creams and some perscription meds. It seems to get worse as she gets older. Her skin is like a lizard but she screams when I try to put lotion on her. She says it burns/stings. Is there anything out there that actually works on eczema?

My son has had sever eczema since he was born, along with numerous food allergies.he is very sensitive to almost everything .he use to complain about stinging when i applied any type of lotion to his skin. I found the that a product call aquaphor is much better. It doesn't give you that cold feeling after applying it and it takes the edge off the sting. The down side to this is that it is very thick and greasy, but it keeps the skin very hydrated and that's what you want. you can use it before bed or as need. before aquaphor my son's skin was very very dry ,scaly ,and cracked .i couldn't just apply any ol moisturizing cream or lotions. this product is awesome for children with sensitivity to scented things.and have allergies

I also find that eliminating allergens definitely helps alot! since he is regularly being tested for allergens(yearly) its help to see if its a true eczema breakout or something due to allergies. may I ask what ointments your using? have you tried an oral steroid called prelone?

I have a 2 year old who has been dealing with head to toe severe eczema since 3 months of age. My little one also has scaley skin..and the skin on her knees are toughened. The best soap I've used on her skin is Cetaphil...for body and hair. It's very gentle...it doesn't lather but it cleans well. Gently Naturals Baby Eczema Cream is applied right after any topical med is put on her. There has been no stinging. Have you tried ruling any allergens out? I just eliminated milk and milk based foods from her diet two weeks ago and her eczema has almost completely gone away! Eczema is the result of an allergen...so just try to get to the root of the problem instead. Good luck
