Need help on "how to write a formal complain"?
Someone at work verbally attacked me last week and I would like to write a formal complain to stay in his personal records. I've never written one before, So if anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it!
My supervisor and HR is aware of this issue. It seems as though, he is being protected because he is a supervisor, not my supervisor though, and his father is one of our biggest account. I feel like I'm the smallest fish in the ocean and nobody is going to look out for my bests interest. I like my job and my boss is great but I know there's only so much he can do w/out compromising his own job. pls help.....

Dear employer
On [date], [who] said [what] which I consider offensive and bullying [or whatever]
For your information [who] was present and may be able to give you further information.
I expect you to protect me from such behaviour on the part of your other employees.
Yours sincerely.

You should go to your Human Resources department and they should have someone there who can help you. If the person said anything offensive (eg racist, sexist, etc) then I would report it because it is an environmental issue and the employer must know it exists to prevent it from happening again by him or others. If it was just a big mistake maybe you should give him the chance to apologize before you put something like that in his permanent record.
In either case, if HR does not have an official form then just write a memo or letter referencing the date and time of the incident, who else was present (if anyone) and what happened. Then HR will have to investigate.
Good luck.

If this is the first time this happened, let it slide (unless it was sexual harassment or racism).
If this is NOT the first time - write a letter with the following guidelines.
- stick to facts, and try to exclude emotions as much as you can. Except when you indicate "i felt threatened at that point" or "the sexually oriented comments made me feel unsafe" - put yourself in reporter mode.
- state clearly what happened, in what circumstances, and who were present that could confirm your account.
- Say how often this has happened, and indicate whether or not the circumstances were similar each time.
Be prepared to back up your complaint, and ask other people that saw what happened to confirm your story, preferably in writing.

complaint. You should see your supervisor in private and tell them your problem and that you would like something done about it.
