I'm sorry I can't help you with a doctor's name, but if you contact the University of Pittsburg Medical Center, they should be able to help you out. They have a lot of rheumatolgists in the Pittsburgh area that work through them. They have an arthritis institute (www.arthritis.pitt.edu) that might be of some help as well. I'm sure they have support groups that should be able to help you find a doctor and somebody to talk to who can offer practical help. At least more help than I can, sorry. I really hope you find somebody. As far as the kids and the husband, get a legal separation agreement, and child support ordered. The kids are entitled to that, and he is obligated to provide it. Whether he agrees, understands or choses to believe your medical condition is not a factor. His kids, his obligation to help support them. I hope you can find the help you need, and the support for your kids.

I am a physician assistant that works in neuo-ophthalomogy. i see tons of people that come into the clinic with "preesumed" fibro. Excuse my language but this is a **** diagnosis. It is a lazy diagnosis by whomever made it to you and does you giant diservice, especially with all the other stuff you have going on in your life.
fibro is not a diagnosis is a discription of symptoms. i believe in our pain. pain is always caused by something ALWAYS! Fibro says "no cause,' beauase it is not a diagnosis it is a description of symptoms. WHomever worked you up did not do a adequate job to find the c ause of your pain.
you need to find another doctor, and it doesnt neccisarily need to be a Rheum. ou might want to look into an imunologist or someone who specializes in pain.
Hp[e this helps.

Hi, and big hugs you sure have a lot on your plate right now. Lets see if I can help with at least part of your issues.
I too have fibro, and yes its real. Mine began after a severe car accident and multiple surgeries on my spine. There is a lot of great info on the web about fibro and some great support email lists on yahoo....
I go to a pain clinic for my neuropathic pain from the accidnet and nerve damage, But also for the fibro pain. I have begun getting something called a myers cocktail, and it makes a world of difference in my energy levels and pain levels. Its an IV that contains among other things magnesium, calcium, folic acid, and B vitamins, I also get a B12 shot. You can google the myers cocktail and get lots of details info about it from the doc that pioneered it. But, if you cant get the IV, I do have friends that take supplements of those things long term and it has helped.
for me, stress can make my other issue flare up and become worse. I know its difficult for you now, I have been in similar situation myself. My best advice is to take care of yourself first and as best you can. set limits and stick to them. others dont have to understand them, they just have to respect your boundaries. It is VERY common for folks with chronic pain to suffer from depression as well. Your body uses up all your seratonin in your pain gates trying to control the pain, and you have none left for mood elevation.
keep plugging away at the medical stuff and getting docs. It took me aong time to assemble my team, and it scared me when i moved to have to recreat a new team. But it is worth the effort, and in time it will all work out. I had trouble getting to the specialists, and arranging appointments etc, and even had to change a few dogc in the team beuase I didnt like thier care. Consider getting your team together and caring for yourself as your job and goal right now. I know all this is hard, but you are NOT alone, lots of us have had this rough road and worked it out over a period of time. You can do it too, although it seems like a big task right now.
