What do you do, to while away the time sitting in the deer stand?

While it is dark or getting dark I listen to music on a "walkman" during the day light I watch movies on a DVD player. It is a given that you are still paying more attention to hunting than the movie.

Update:

During the 60s and 70s I was in the Army and lost most of my hearing, but with earphones I can hear enough to understand what is being said or sang. My head phones are for both ears but I only use it on one. I also monitor the radios that I have on every hunter on my place. I might get more if I didn't use them but I will tell you this past year I did get an Axis deer and a white tail, both bucks, along with a Tom Turkey. I have tried to read but it makes me very sleepy and when I look around I end up loosing my place.

Read a good book! Mark Twain once said, "those who do not read great works of literature have no advantage over those who can not."

I wouldnt think of listening to music , I hear most deer before I ever see them. Its best to keep all senses on full alert.

Early morning till 11 am is prime time for deer as is the last couple hours of the day. I will take a nap during the warm midday at times . When I hunt I dont get bored there is always something to enjoy watching ,wether it be squirrels, birds etc.

When I go deer hunting I usually bring a sleeping bag and get all cuddled in nice and snug, then I read usually rub together some sheds to see if I can get a any bucks to spar off. If I dont get anywhere doing that I use a deer call. I focus all my attention on hunting. I dont like to think that Any sudden movement will effect my hunt.

I spend most of my time listening and watching during hunting season. If I feel the need to I will:

close my eyes for a nap,

    read a book

    eat a snack, drink something

whitle on a stick. I have made some cool things for my kids while in the woods.

    Video/take pcitures of wildlife.

I've been hunting for years and the best thing to do is to sit there. I know it's boring but I've missed a lot of deer doing other things. Sometimes I just bring some food along and snack a bit while I'm waiting. I know this may not be the answer that you're looking for, but trust me it's just good to enjoy the outdoors.

first off the the only electronic thing you should ever have in a tree stand is a rangefinder or even a hearing aid 2 make things even louder wat u do in a tree stand aint even close 2 hunting you sit there and listen 2 every sound and pay attention 2 every movement of wind or a little scarlet 2oo yds. away everything means something you must become one with the evirnment if u love hunting and the sport as some call it but a life to others you will go by this im only 15 and spend every moment of my life workin for better equipment for the season or scoutin or daydreamin bout it so if u wanna talk bout this my messenger is skypony69 (thats rlly it its not a joke)

I always take my camera and a lite book. The camera is in case something interesting occurs with any wildlife. The book is to kill time as necessary. I usually read a page, look around, read a page, etc.
