Are these potatoes safe to eat?
I left 3 large baked potatoes in the microwave overnight. Are they safe to eat?
Just want to address a few things that were said. I much prefer potatoes baked in the oven, but mine isn't working. I live in a rural area, and it's no small task to go to the store. I bought these at a nearby convenience store, and paid way too much for them, just to avoid going into town. So I hated to see them go to waste. (I expected them all to get eaten, but not all my kids came home for supper.) I thought maybe since they were "sealed" in their peelings, they would be safe. But I decided it wasn't worth the risk, and threw them out. Thanks for your answers.

At one time I would have said yes, but I have come to learn that potatoes that are cooked and then left out at room temperature can develop toxins that can make you sick.

It won't kill you to eat them but a good rule of thumb is fresh food is the best food, throw em out and make some more there only potatoes. Not a lot of labor goes into making potatoes in the microwave. Eat Fresh!

Let them rest in peace. (yuck) Go to the market and get three more. Also, I know it's quick, but microwaved potatoes aren't that good. Take a little extra time if possible and bake them in an oven.

A use by date is usually a use or freeze by date, so if you didn't do either of those things I would throw them out to be safe. If you're willing to walk on the wild side thought, you can always open them & take a look. Are they moldy? Do they have that not-so-fresh milk smell, then definitely throw them away!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're fine. It's just over night. I've eaten baked potatoes after about 26 hours and I've been just fine.

I've done the same thing and the potatoes were fine. My family ate them the next day.

no because when you leaved cooked food out or any food that could rot you onky get two hours to eat it. after that bacteria starts developing and all theses germs get on it because germs and bacteria are able to live and reproduce at moderate temperatrure from i believe 40 degrees to 140 or 150 degrees so no its not safe to eat
