I am not a cat person but my sister has cat that has been acting weird lately. Besides that he meows, then squats and is leaking a clear substance from his rearend. What could it be? I am taking him to the vet tomorow for her, and even though he is not my cat I care(even though they do not. Any info helpful/

A cat does not squat when he or she sprays. The cat is urinating and is sounds as though he might have crystals in his urine and it is making it painful for him to urinate.

I am glad he will go to the vet tomorrow. If urination is totally blocked the cat has only 14-36 hours before dying of uremic poisoning.

A male cat that sprays does not squat. He backs up to something he wants to mark, kneads his back legs (what he is really doing here is taking aim) and sprays a diffuse, fine puff of intensely scented urine. When he is doing the actual spraying, his tail is straight up in the air like a flag, and vibrating.

It is not clear th at this cat is even male, and maybe there are some males that cry before they spray, but I am not familiar with that being the case.

You say this little furball has "been acting weird" but I don't know what you mean by that.

Get this little guy to the vet.

It sounds as though the cat is having trouble urinating. I've had two cats die of renal failure from the same problem. They can't pee and the kidneys shut down. You need to get the cat to the vet as soon as possible. My cats died on the operating table because I waited a day. It seems to happen more to desexed male cats.

lol, HE is spraying! He is marking his territory and there is nonthing you can do about it unless you have him neutered. Alot of male cats pee even after they have been fixed. Nonthing gets the smell out either!

Welcome to the male world, haha, the spraying is normal, but I would say have him fixed, there's a good chance that will stop, althouth that's not guaranteed.
