Certain names,logos,pictures are used to advertise a product.It reaches public mind by that logo etc. The owner of the company asks for exclusive rights for the product sale along with that advertising materials. This reservation is called trade mark.
After investing funds on research certain method are invented,certain end products are manufactured.The request of exclusive rights for mercantile for certain number of years
is sought after registering the product/service,and this is known patent right.
It is applicable for artworks also.
