I just had knee surgery this morning and now I'm feeling nauseous.?

I was under general anesthesia, and haven't had anything to eat today. Is this normal? Should I eat something?

Update:

Thanks for all the input. Magix 151 gets Best Answer for the additional, (and very necessary) bucket suggestion.

Normal. Try eating crackers and drinking sprite or ginger ale. But keep a bucket handy in case it comes back on you.

Most anesthesia have a side effect of nausea so yes its normal and if you do try to eat something make it crackers and 7-up because anything heavy on your stomach right now will make it worse. Relax and in 24 hours you should start to feel better

It's normal. In fact some people throw up because of the anesthesia. Drink some clear broth and have some crackers, ginger ale, coca cola. You can also drink tea. Avoid spicy or heavy foods for 24 hours as that will make you feel worse. If you have access to it, drink some ginger tea. I swear by it.

Feeling sick after surgey is not uncommon.

It happens to me everytime I have surgery, sleep it off the best you can, eat a little, drink LOTS of water.

Popsicles and Toast are all the best to eat while under something like that.

You'll be feeling tons better by tomorrow :)

The anesthetics are what messed up your system- just eat something light- chicken soup, saltine crackers, and Jell-O are good.

Be sure to ask your doctor about any possible reactions, especially if you have allergies to certain medicines.

I know, I had my appendix out two years ago and had a similar feeling. I ate something and felt much better.

If you can, yes. Something light. Soup would be good. Saltines. Normal to have nausea after general anesthesia.

It's a normal reaction to general anesthetics. You should eat something. Something light if your still feeling naucious. If it last for more than a day though, call your physician.

it's normal to feel sick and you should just have soft stuff for today as you might get sick anyway
