What is it that is incorrect or so wrong about these firm positions I hold?-?
You don't work, you don't eat.
Residing in the US illegally does not give you use of public services (to include schools) or a "path to citizenship".
Illegal citizen or not, getting knocked up and having your baby in the US should not give you or your child a tether to welfare.
An inability to pay should deny you access to hospital and emergency room care.
I know these are hard lines, but it is more and more troubling that I have to foot the bill for people who won't pay their own way and be responsible for their own choices/actions.
Social charity is meant to be temporary, not a life choice. And it should be reserved for the elderly, ill, and disabled. Too many able bodied people are taking advantage of a system funded by a disenfranchised working class.

FDR established the welfare system in the United States in order to deal with a crisis. Unfortunately, he created another crisis.
Because of our legislators' desire to appeal to the masses, they have failed to retire the institutions that administer welfare. They have actually only expanded the benefits.
But I thought the U.S. is the strongest economy in the world? What kind of crisis are we experiencing?
We have the crisis of those that become dependent and/or scam the system. Look at history, and you will see that welfare always creates problems with low workforce moral and increased immigration.
Look at Rome and its "Dole." I believe it is Cicero who is quoted on the role of the implemented Dole, "and the poor flocked to Rome."

There is nothing wrong with holding an opinion. You can think anything you want.
Overall, some of your statements make sense... Social benefits should be a helping hand and not a lifestyle. That's true. Too many abled bodied people sit on their butts all day and feed off the public teat.... And, we all are tired of getting our sorry butts out of bed everyday to get to work and have to hand a good chunk of our paycheck over to the worthless deadbeats in our system.
Where you veer off-course is in blaming "illegal immigrants" for the problem. Deadbeat welfare recipients have ALWAYS been in our system and they come from all races, all areas of the country. 43 MILLION Americans have no health insurance - that is what's has broken our medical system - not "illegal immigrants"...
MOST immigrants who come to our country legally or not, go to work..... They pay taxes ontheir paychecks just like we do...except those who are hired from the street corners and are paid in cash.(That is also a home-grown problem but that's another issue).
You cannot deny education to any children in our country...Constitutionally. Nor can a doctor or hospital withhold care based on race or economic status. What would you have the hospital do? Prop them up on the curb and let them die? I don't think that is what you mean.
Many, many of our OWN female citizens get "knocked up", give birth and go on welfare...many more than "illegals" do.
Finally, it is in the Constitution, a child born on American soil is a citizen...period....That won't be changed.
It is too bad that our government has ignored this issue for over 60 years. Big corporations, agribusiness, farmers and others have depended and still depend on the cheap work force. The government has ALWAYS "winked" at it because they don't interfere in commerce....as you know.
As far as gaining a "path to citizenship" by the proposed plan; what would you suggest?
Do you really think that it is possible to find, round-up and deport 13 or 14 million people? That is more than the total population of the states of Colorado, Nevada and Arizona combined; more than the country of Denmark...It is NOT possible.
Unless our government gets serious about protecting our borders and tightening security at our airports and seaports; until they develop and use a system to track visa holders...nothing will change... Our border with Mexico is 1, 952 miles long.....the talk about a "fence" is ridiculous. But even if it was built, you still have over 23,000 miles of coastline, mostly unprotected. The border with Canada is 5,522 miles long (the longest in the world). Can't do anything about that either.
We need thousands more border guards (not those screwball beer-bellied "militiamen"). We need more border crossings and checkpoints and agents who actually CHECK every vehicle and pedestrian. We need serious penalties for those people and companies who hire undocumented workers. We need more security at our seaports and more Coast Guard for our coastlines. Think that will every happen? NOPE. Government is NOT interested in stopping this labor force from working for their good business partners.
To take out our anger on these people is so racist and bigotted. The anger needs to be directed where it should be - in the lap of Uncle Sam and those in Washington who have sat on their butts and let this happen.

The only thing wrong with what you have said is that there is no practical way mentioned to get from where we are today to where you want us to be. You've dreamed up your ideal way a government should act, but have said nothing about what should be done about the problems and issues we have today. Half the issues in politics are differences in opinion about what the role of government should be.
I do think there should be safety nets for hard working people--no work no eat is a little harsh--shiit happens, businesses fail, and people lose their jobs sometimes, and few people I know are prepared for that. I also hope you are implying that our taxes should be lowered because we are no longer providing these services through government funding. I usually hear these sorts of arguments from Republicans, who's politicians cut social programs but still don't cut taxes for working people--they just funnel the money into a different wasted program that interests them more.

If you don't let them work because they are illegal, how can you in all fairness let them starve? You never gave them a chance!
You should reserve some blame for the federal govt for failing to enforce the border.
Having a baby in the US is good enough because "all men are created equal". It is a slippery slope when the babies born to only the right parents get rights.
Re the inability to pay for med care...we are all entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Life is the first one! Where's the compassion in your 'compassionate conservative'?

I always find it amusing that people gripe and complain about providing health care and assistance to others, but never gripe about the fact that before we even started this war on terrorism, the United States spent more on national defense than the next SIXTEEN countries!!!
Would you deny health care to illegal children? Would you have forced labor camps for those without work? Are you a NAZI?
THAT is what is wrong with your positions. They are mean and smack of fascism. I am a veteran and I am appalled at the genuine meanness of many in our country. I love my country and was willing to serve, but it seems that there are a good many of us who are mean and lack compassion and empathy.

There is a black market in our country profiting from buying Social Security and I.D. cards from desperate Americans and selling them to illegals. Legal Mexican residents who decide to return to Mexico also sell or give the I.D.s to illegals, so we have millions of illegals with some form of I.D., including fake I.D.s, making it possible for them to find work here. Though taxes are withheld from their checks, they earn so little that their taxes are refunded to them. If an illegal earns enough money for them to be above the poverty line, they'll claim to have 5 to 12 dependents if necessary to receive a tax refund.
It's too easy for the govt. to discover the locations of these black market profiteers, but they don't bother. By making it incredibly difficult for illegals to obtain some form of I.D., they'd have a difficult time finding jobs, which should help prevent them from choosing to come here.

You have a contradiction here. You said no hospital care for those who can't afford it, then you went on to say social charity should be for the ill.
So which is it?

there is not a damned thing wrong with your beliefs, and they should be standard beliefs for every American citizen, but, you will get static from the P,C, CROWD. but any one who falls for that B,S, is not important any way.

for one thing those so called illigals lived in these parts long before your kind ever arrived here.

Not a thing as far as I can see. Stick to your guns, you're on the right path.
