Not Eligible For Rehired?

I Work for this partcular company in another state back in 2005 and i left with verbal notice (i'm aware i should have given written) of two weeks when i found out i was moving back to Louisiana (hurricane katrina victim) anyway i applied for the same company Sat. here in Louisiana and they said that the store i worked at before has me listed as no eligible for rehire. now mind you i was a seasonal empolyee anyway and, i moved to go back to school. is that fair. i called to find out why but they said the person i need to talk to was not there and i shoudl call back 2mmrow. what should i do. i have no idea what the reason is and i don't think they will tell me why. i think it may be one of the supervisors i worked for there because she was mean and never really liked me. the olyl problem i ever had was not correctly checking a traveler's check because my job before we didn't accept them so i didn't know how people use them and they didn't train me on that.

They don't have to give a reason. You worked in what is called an at will employment. This simply means there was no contract. You could quit at any time and they could fire you for no real reason. They evidently didn't like your work. Just find a different job. No reason to put yourself through the grinder over a job that doesn't want you back. Move along with your life.

I was told by previous employer that I am ineligible for rehire due to the fact that I did not give sufficient notice when I quit. Unfortunately, I believe that this is the reason I am not being considered by other employers, which is unfair because my performance there was very good, which had nothing to do with the reason for my ineligibility to be rehired. But also remember that everything happens for a reason, and every position is not meant for you. Best of luck

You are probably not eligible for rehire because you did not give a written notice and because, for some reason, a person in authority didn't like your work. I would just find a different place to work. A company has the right to not rehire you for any reason they want to.

Don't worry about it. I had a place list me that way too for no good reason. Just go to a different place. They could tell the new place that you aren't eligible for rehire, but they probably won't.

    Good luck! :)

Don't worry about it until you speak with the person. The company you left is not really able to give a bad recommendation if you look for a new job anyway.

Do you have a professional friend who can call there and get a reference on you? If they are giving out slanderous information, you could have the grounds for a lawsuit.

Many co's will not rehire anybody who quits.

This is their policy and is quite legal.
