Can you be the first to answer this correctly?

Air Force One, the aircraft carrying the President of the United States, does not have an equal number of takeoffs and landings. The takeoffs exceed the landings by one.

This statement is true only when Air Force One is on the ground.

Explain how this is possible.

It is because "Air Force One" is simply the name given to the aircraft that the President is currently in (when he's not in it it's just another plane).

President Nixon's resignation ocurred in mid-flight, so the plane took off with the President onboard but landed without him (Nixon no longer being President).

Therefore takeoffs will always exceed landings by that one event until something similar happens again.

The plane carrying Nixon changed its call sign mid-flight when he resigned from office. Any non private plane carrying the president has the call sign 'Air Force One'. Since Nixon was no longer president during the flight, the call sign was changed and therefore technically never landed until after the next president landed in 'Air Force One'.

It is because "airforce one" is only airforce one when the president is aboard.
