Israel was not founded by terrorist action. The land was under a British mandate, and Britain decreed that it was to be divided equally, between the Palestinians and the jewish refugees from the second world war.

The Jews agreed, and the Arabs already living there didn't have a problem; in cities such as Jaffa, Jews and Arabs were living peacefully together. It was the surrounding Arab nations who rejected the idea, and demanded that all Muslims leave their homes so that they wouldn't be there when those same Arab countries launched a simultaneous attack on Israel - which they did indeed do.

As for the spurious story about British soldiers being hung from trees; perhaps you'd like to either quote your source for this, or provide a link? Given that the British were fully armed, while the jewish refugees were not allowed weapons of any kind, the British were the ones in control. It's also a matter of HISTORICAL FACT that the Arabs were allowed guns etc. while the Jews, who had accepted partition and wanted peace, were at the Arabs' mercy.

So get your facts right next time.

3. The worst thing that could happen to the Palestinians right now would be for Israel to completely leave the West Bank and cede sovereignty. In case you haven't noticed, there has been some "tension" within the Palestinian Authority that might make it a little tough (read impossible) to govern.

The Israelis have the right to ask the Palestinians to give up violence because that violence is directed against them!

as to your question they Palestinians do not have to forswear violence, but it is kind of hard to negotiate with a person trying to kill you.
