Should I have surgery to remove the implants from my ankle?

I fractured my ankle a few months back and had surgery to reinforce it with a plate and a few screws. I'm now debating on whether I should have another surgery to take them out. Right now, I'm feeling a little tightness on the side of my ankle that has the implants. I don't know how shoes feel yet, since I haven't been wearing them. I guess my question goes to those that have gone through this process...What are your experiences and would you recommend taking them out?

Wow, I didn't know they could do that. I mean I knew about the pins and screws and plates but it would be very cool if flat footed people could get implants to save their knees from the damage of walking poorly for a lifetime. My suggestion to you would be to try on a pair of your shoes that are lose fitting and comfortable. Walk around your home for a bit and see how it feels. If you are still in a surgical boot then that would be out of the question. If it was anything like my knee surgery then I defiantly understand your hesitation. Bone surgeries of any kind are terrible. Good luck with What ever you decide. Your doctor would be a better person to ask.
