Why do some Christians believe in a literal "satan"?

I'm with conx on this one.

The who idea of believing in these imaginary supernatural magical stories is just a bit wacko.

The important part is that Satan or whatever you want to call him was one of God's angles, Threw conceit and hate he rebelled against God, and lost. He was cast into the pit (hell) he was forever separated from God.

I do believe it mentions this in the Hebrew texts

Maybe because the Bible presents him as a literal being, and he also has more names than just Satan.

Satan is a name for a very powerful angel. He is adversarial, testing and a murderer.

I used to think like you until I met one of his demons. It was not a nice experience and it was way scarier than an untranslated Hebrew word. They are there, I'm not pulling your leg.

i guess you miss the part when satan came and talk to Jesus?

and tempted jesus at the end of his 40 day fast..said to him..IF you are god..turn this stone to bread.

and satan know..jesus in a man form..was hungry surely after 40 days..gosh.

I believe Satan (or Mara) is a psychological enemy. This is found in Buddhism.

Because he is real.

Satan is very real....

Because they're stupid like that let them be let them suffer and beg for their poor little souls.....
