Why was the question Who teaches the teacher removed?

This was actually a great question, although I think it was asked facetiously. Why was it removed?

I think future students need to realize the value of this question, because a good teacher NEVER stops learning. They are taught by other teachers, their environment, books, the media, and most of all by their students. It is so very important that teachers learn all they can about their students, in order to be able to teach them!

When my students complain about having to go to school I express the fact that I still "go to" school. My students know that I have homework and go to classes after school. They also know that if I don't know the answer to something I will find it by asking another teacher or research. There are many ways to show students that you are still learning while they are. One very easy way is to say "I did not know that...Thank you for letting me know about..." . Students often have information and facts that a teacher doesn't know or think about. They feel good about themselves and realize you learn into adulthood.

I start the beginning of every year getting to know my students. I play ice breaker games, and they fill out information sheets for a time capsule. This all helps me to know who they are and what is important to them. I learn a lot about them over the course of the school year. I understand how they learn and what their interests are and that makes their learning experience that much more beneficial and enjoyable.

You are correct in saying a teacher never stops learning. Most adults never stop learning.

At first, it's the college professors who taught us, and still do, as we continue to take classes throughout our careers. Once we start teaching we are taught by district inservice specialists and by other teachers who have plenty of advice, especially for new teachers. We learn from the internet, from reading on our own, from experience, and from our students.

Most of became teachers because we loved learning so much that we wanted to share. The desire to learn only grows, unless we get so tired we want to quit.

You're right about needing to learn about our students. Every year I get new kinds of students that I have never had before. It never ceases to amaze me. I have to keep learning new ways to handle some of the more challenging ones.

It seems like everything else..the decent people that ask real questions or give good, honest, or God forbid Christian answers, are the ones that are punished. Liberalism abounds and exist solely to protect the immoral little drug abusing, flag burning, treasonous punks out there. I dare you to say something about a homosexual or call an illegal immigrant a beaner and they'll take you off faster than you can blink!!!

    I don't get Matthew C's comments.

Is he kidding, or is he really that homophobic, xenophobic, jingoist, etc?
