why so many religions but only one God?

I'm going to take a leap of faith here and assume you're asking " Why are there some many denominations of Christianity?" the answer is simple, human error.

Some found a flaw in a pre-existing church and made their own. They some one else found a flaw in that one, and made one in turn. And so on and so forth.

I think it is because, people are confused and are scrambling for the right answers. I think people just need to breathe and relax, and remember that there will always be questions and mistakes in this world... God knows that putting your trust in what you cannot see is really difficult, but I believe in mankind... they'll find everything out and understand everything someday... people will know if Jesus is the path to the Creator, or what their special calling in life is, whether there is this or that and what it is like, etc. If I make my life a testimony to people and a prayer to God, I am working with what is in my power. If you have the ability to ask "why" you have the power of knowledge. It carries great responsibility, to do what is right or wrong (with the light you have) with this I know, that one should never be anxious for anything... not even what we percieve of as "truth" because when you have a close relationship with God, you will eventually know the truth, and the truth WILL set you free because you won't have to ask "why" anymore.

It started out as monotheistic. But I assume as time went on and the population started to grow larger, people started to abandon God. How do you pray to a God you simply cannot see? comes to mind. So some folks came up with the idea of nature as gods while some the same wit the sun and moon. Hey, I guess you feel secure when you know what your "god(s)" look like.

WHY SO MANY RELIGIONS?

And alot of people had used the scriptures to mislead people .2 Peter 3:16: as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

* BECAUSE Alot of people followed other gods of thier own.During the time of Moises the children of Israel had seen numerous gods and goddess. Ezekiel 20:7: And I said to them, "Each of you, get rid of the vile images you have set your eyes on, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God." Isaiah 42:17: But those who trust in idols, who say to images, 'You are our gods,' will be turned back in utter shame. And During the Christian era. ROMANS 1 :22-25 : "Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator"

Apparently in your question you have a notion of "ONE GOD" this serves seperate querry.

Why so many man-made attempts to understand God= religion? One God, One Way to Him= Jesus Christ. Christianity is not a religion, but a relationship with Jesus who is The Way, The Truth, and The Life.

The Greeks had many Gods but only one religion. How can you be sure either way?

believe in religion because it is way too many religions out there on the market to shop for. So i stick with just believing in God and his expected requirements only because it is wayyyy simpler.

Oh, everybody thinks they have the right answer, the only answer. It's a shame; we could do so much more if we recognized our interconnectedness and recognized that we're all in this together. One big ship - part of it can't go down without the rest following.
