Its because an ant seems to have no atoms that is excited (the electrons is speeded up) by microwaves. The object needs to have atoms that can be excited or it will not be affected in any way. But i think an ant will not survive it since it contains proteins that will be excited.

All residing creatures tolerate various tiers of radiation (measured in RADs)...human beings perish at one thousand rads. i do no longer comprehend what number RADS an ant can look after...yet bugs can look after greater RADS than human beings. A cockroach dies at 20,000 and in fact would be between the 1st insect to die interior the shape of a nuclear conflict. So, possibly that's the reason your ants proceed to exist a go interior the microwave.

The microwaves are several times larger than the ant. Most of the energy is missed.

Cruelty to a living creature is a tragedy, my friend. Ants serve a purpose on the Earth and that does not entail putting them in the microwave for your amusement. Next time put yourself in the microwave & see what happens.

No, it wouldn't be still alive. The microwave energy heats the body fluids to boiling point, and being so small, this would be almost instantaneous, resulting in death.
Why would you want to cook ants anyway?

thats kinda wrong..
but, to answer your question i would presume because microwaves work by boiling the moisture inside of an object.
the ant would have so little moisture inside of them, so the microwave wouldn't work.
