What do you consider is a suitable age to get your daughter's ears pierced?
My daughter is 6 years old and has been asking for over a year now so I am happy it is not a fad. Most of her friends have theirs done. What do you think?

If you're satisfied that she actually wants them because she wants them and not because her friends are doing it, you should let her get them pierced. It's like a rite of passage for a little girl :)

I let my daughter have hers done at 5 and it went pretty well for a while, but then she started losing earrings almost every day, and they were the ones that have the locking backs that are supposed to be impossible to lose. So, then one ear closed up after she lost the earring that was in it one day and I tried to put one in the very afternoon when she got home from school. So I just let them both close and we will try again when she is a little older, maybe 8 or so.

My niece had hers pierced at age 1 and she felt no pain and has always loved her earings, she never got infections or anything and i got my daughters done at 3 and she has never had a problem with her ears either, but i think it is a personal choice!

Kids these days want to dress like little adults and not always in a good way. Earrings today, belly shirts and minis tomorrow.... I'd say wait till she's 13 or starts high school.

In my opinion, I think 6 might be a bit too young. However, when I was that ages I remember really wanting my ears pierced. My mum never let me, so when I was 16 I went and had them done behind her back lol.
It's really your preferance. If you think it's too young, then you should explain your reason, but I don't think you should let her wait untill she's 16!

my mom got my ears pierced when i was 4 months old. it really meant a lot to me and If i had a daugther I would do it when they are young simply because your giving her a little more confidence.
i have a friend of mine who is 20 years old and still too scared to get her ears pierced.
just do what you think is best and is appropriate for your culture... you will choose what's best, your the mom

12 or 14. Before that they may not be mature enough to properly care for the piercings particularly new piercings.
