Potty Training My Min Pin?

I have a Min Pin, he is 5 months old. I'm still strugling to potty train him. I was told by a dog trainer at Pet Smart to crate train him; this is not working he will potty in his crate and not even cry. Every morning and everytime I get off I have to clean his crate. I have a potty pad by the front door so when he needs to go he would go to the door and I would let him out; when he is loose in the apt. but he still goes anywhere he please. Some days are good but most are hurrable. I am getting very fustrated and I ready to give him away. Can someone help me because I am about to find him a new home.

Update:

I have a divider in the crate and he only have enough room to turn around or lie down. I got him from a puppy store

the main problem is the breed. As a long time former breeder of Miniature Pinschers this is one of the most difficult breeds on average to house train. They also are never recommended for apts as they are by nature high energy dogs that need a great deal of time off leash in a securely fenced yard to exert and wear off this energy. Crate training is a must at this point but more importantly is setting a routine in place. Feed, then allow 15 to 20 minutes than take the dog outside until they have done their business. Obviously if they can run instead of walk this kicks the system in gear faster. You need to stay with this routine regularly as dogs are routine oriented. No food left down during the day. Set feeding schedule followed by time outside and stay consistent. On average most Miniature Pinschers will never be totally house trained but by age of 2 they are pretty much as good as they will get. There are rare exceptions to this but again these are exceptions.

Find what motivates your dog. Some dogs do anything for food. Some dogs do anything for Toys. Some do anything for a good petting. Some do anything for only one type of food, like cheese, or hotdog. Some only have interest in training for 5 minutes at a time, and others can go for an hour. Figure out what your dog is willing to work for, and then work with her in sessions that are no longer than she can tolerate. How to train your dog properly https://tr.im/05juU

Sign up for a dog obedience training class. It will not train your dog. It will give you training on how you can train your dog. Most people understand the idea of training, but there is a right and a wrong way to do it, and there is good and bad technique. Timing and consistency is very important, and it helps to have feedback of someone watching you who can help you improve your technique to get more efficient results with your dog.

However, she may be somewhat anxious around other dogs, sort of like the shy kid on the playground. She will benefit from continuing what you are doing as far as asking her to sit before entering, but there are more things along those lines that will help her to calmly go in and out of the dog park. She may also benefit from going in short bursts, or only when fewer dogs are present, or avoiding times when other dogs that make her nervous are present. Maybe she just plays loud - my brother's dog is this way - or maybe she is a dogpark bully - sorry it is possible. But more likely she is just a little anxious around new dogs and she wants to play but just doesn't quite know how to do that and still feel comfortable. Don't be surprised if your dog does not actually like the dog park, and maybe she would get more enjoyment and less stress out of simply going for a good walk somewhere else.

A wagging tail does not mean that your dog is happy or even comfortable with the situation. It means your dog is emotionally aroused. This could be a happy arousal, or it could be a nervous arousal, or it could be an aggressive arousal. Go youtube it, there are plenty of videos of 'vicious' dogs who are throwing a very aggressive fit of barking and snarling while their tail is wagging vigorously. Even police dogs who are not let off the leash to chase down a suspect can be lunging and barking and snarling, and their tails are still going.

    start all over

First thing you have to do with a dog is us the same dry food. Dry food is the best because it cleans there teeth and it is not full of water. Until house broke, the dog should only be feed once a day at the same time every day. Walk the dog after you feed it. And I mean walk do not just stand there. Then walk him again a half hour after that. You should walk him as many times a day as you can until house broke. Walking helps it pass the food. Walk it in the same place every day. When they smell there own potty it makes them have to go. When the dog goes in the house, clean it up with vinegar. This does 2 things kills the smell+vinegar has a urine bass smell and the dog thinks you r marking this as your turf. When the dog goes in the house put the potty outside where you want it to go. Remember smelling his potty makes him want to go. So no potty smell in the house but lots of potty smell outside. You should have a pin or create just big enough for him to lie down. Most dog will not potty where they lay. Do not put anything in the pin that will soak up pee. When you are not watching your dog, he should be in the pin. If he goes in the house, you should catch him in the act and grab him and yell no then take him outside. Clean it up and take the potty outside. So to rap this up. Walk him as much as you can tell him good boy when he goes outside. When your not watching him keep him it the pin. When he goes inside tell him bad boy and take him outside..

Having three Min Pins myself, I know the breed has a reputation for being difficult to house break. first off, start potty training over. Put a harness (not a collar) on your dog along with a leash. Whenever the dog is not in the crate the dog should be tied to your belt, so wherever you go he goes. Wehn he se he starts to signal (circle/sniff/scratch) that he has to go, run him over to the potty pad. Praise him the entire time he's going, reward him when he's done (so make sure you have them on hand to give right away) and use a consistent command word. your dog should not be allowed to free roam the home until he is housebroken. When the dog starts dragging you to the potty pad everytime he needs to go than you can undo the leash from your belt. BUT you still need to keep an eye on him and make sure he is running to the potty pad when he needs to go. You let the leash drag behind him so if you see to have him start an accident than you grab it up and take him to the potty pad. When he is going consistently even with the leash dragging behind him than you can take the leash off him.

To not have him potty in the crate..make sure you've thoroughly cleaned it with an enzyme based cleaner designed for dogs like Nature's Miracle not just an everyday household cleaner...otherwise the dog will be drawn to resoil it again...Secondly, double check to make sure it is properly sized for your dog. Than, before putting the dog in the crate make sure he's voided and make sure he is taken to the potty pad immediately when he is taken out of the crate.

I hope you consider giving him another chance at potty training before you give up on him. You have to understand when a dog soils your home is because you gave it the chance to do it. Although dogs shouldn't be attributed with having human characteristics, they are intelligent enough to be able to understand the concept of, and execute, certain actions that their owners require of them - if these actions are asked in a way that dogs find rewarding. So, with this rule in mind, owners have to be clever as well and find a way of training their dog that actually works quickly and efficiently. The eBook I wrote explains how to achieve this ideal - how to speak “dog” so that you’re able to communicate effectively with your four-legged friend.

As with any training, the best time to start is as soon as you get your new pet. The fundamentals for successful housetraining are:

    - Crate training is very important so it should be mastered.

    - A schedule is required for feeding and exercising.

    - Be vigilant and patient throughout the training period.

House training is most likely every dog owner’s top concern. And it should begin as soon as possible. That's the very first day your dog comes into your home. If you've adopted a new furry friend and spend months in the home without aiding him/her achieve success when it comes to training then s/he’s going to set a precedence that you now need to change. So, concentrate on prevention as opposed to cure. House training comes down to one

rather simple skill - being a good dog time manager. And this means managing your pup's time so that you let them have as few chances as possible to make house training blunders.

Dogs are surely man's best friend. This animal is the most loyal and protective animal that you can ever take care of. Once you have become a master of a dog, you are sure to be protected by your pet especially if you have treated your dog very right. Aside from providing what the dog needs, you should also train your pet dog. This is to give your pet the right behavior and habits so that it will become disciplined and well mannered. You will not have a difficult time taking care of your pet dog once it has undergone dog training. Training your dog is easy and fun especially if you have the right information to use. Here are some of the most basic advices to follow when you are training your dog.

Advice #1: Be the boss at all times. It is a known fact that dogs can sometimes be bossy. These animals are born leaders. But keep in mind that you are the master and should always be followed by your pet.

Advice #2: Show what is right through your actions. If you say that your dog should not hurt other people, and then show it through your actions. Do not show any sign of anger or violence. Dogs have the tendency to become violent especially when it sees it in its environment.

Advice #3: Treat your dog as a dog and not as a kid. Do not expect your dog to understand each and every single thing you say. These are still animals that have different ways of communicating. You are actually training your dog according to their personality and behavior. One needs to be very patient in order to successfully carry out the dog training.

Advice #4: Be consistent with your commands. You should not change mind every now and then. If you are teaching a specific lesson, stay with it until your dog learns to follow it completely. Inconsistency will have your dog confused with the commands that you are calling out. Be firm with what you are teaching. But be sure to reward your dog once it has followed your command successfully.

Advice #5: Commit to daily dog training. Make sure that you train everyday. Skipping days will make your dog be lazy in following you. You need to make sure that you can allot time for your dog so that it can learn something new everyday.

Advice #6: Be positive and appreciative. Dogs like to impress their boss. So if you are impressed with what your dog has done, show happiness. Give encouraging words to your dog. It will also help if you give out rewards like food or toys.

Training your dog to be well mannered and well disciplined means that you are accepting the pet to be a member of your family. Dog training will prevent you from experiencing unlikely incidents because of your pet's misbehavior. Having a pet at home is enjoyable especially if your pet does know how to communicate with you through their behaviors.
