Temples and City Tour

This tour takes you to three of the most famous temples in Bangkok.

Wat Traimit, the Temple of the Golden Buddha, was built to house its astonishing Buddha image. The Golden Buddha is made of solid gold, is more than 3 meters high, and weights 5.5 tons. The Buddha was discovered by an accident in 1955 when a crane dropped an old stucco Buddha, shattered the plaster shell, and revealed the shining gold underneath.

Wat Po, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, is Bangkok's oldest and largest temple. The gigantic gold plated reclining Buddha with inlaid mother-of-pearl soles is highly revered among Buddhists. The Wat is also a center for traditional medicine, of which the famous Institute of Massage is a part.

Wat Benjamabophit, The Marble Temple, is the last major temple to be built in central Bangkok. The bot is laid out in cruciform style with cascading roof levels and displays a fascinating mix of Thai and European traditions.

2.Grand Palace

The Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha

The Grand Palace complex is a remarkable site that contains several magnificent buildings with a fusion of Thai, Western, and Eastern architecture. Within the walls of the complex is Wat Phra Kaeo, or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The sacred Emerald Buddha is the most revered image of the Buddha in Thailand, and the temple has some of the finest examples of Thai sculpture, architecture, painting, and decorative craft in the country.

-Canal Tour

On this tour you will be taken by a private long-tail boat along the Chao Phraya River and through some of the smaller canals in the Thonburi area, where Thais from all different classes live side by side. Second day

The Floating Market – Damnoen Saduak and Thai Villange Culture show at Rose Garden,Nakhon Pathom Province with International Lunch

110 km south–west of Bangkok is one of the few original Floating Markets that are left in the Bangkok area. The Floating Market at Damnoen Saduak is one of the most popular tourist attractions with its many paddle boats from where women are selling flowers, fruit, vegetables, spices, and hot and cold food. The tour takes you by car and boat through the labyrinths of canals to the market, and it also stops at a coconut farm.

Lunch at Rose Garden Resort.after lunchwe will see The Thai Village cultural show. The show includes demonstrations of Thai boxing, traditional dance, Thai wedding, sword fighting, ordination of a monk, and elephants at work. A model of a Thai village is also within the grounds, and is a showcase for traditional Thai crafts, including fruit carving.

Ayuthaya and the Summer Palace

On the way to Ayuthaya you will visit Bang Pa-in, the Summer Palace, with its beautiful pavilion at the center of an ornamental lake. The Palace also includes several buildings of Thai, European, and Chinese architecture. In Ayuthaya, the trip stops at the most famous temples and ruins in the city before boarding the cruise ship that will take you back to Bangkok along the Chao Praya River. A buffet lunch is included on the cruise.

Here's my must do list when you visit Bangkok:

1. Places to visit - Grand Palace, Jatujak weekend market, Khao San road at night, river tour of the Chao Praya river (day and night) + floating market. If have time visit Ayuthaya (ancient city) and Pattaya (beach resort) both are just two hours from Bangkok.

2. Eating fried bugs from a road side stall

3. An early visit to the Klong Toey fresh market??

4. Take a motor bike taxi ride through the traffic of Bangkok - not recommended for those with heart problem haha!!

5. Take a passenger boat along one of Bangkok's most busy and crowded canals. It's call Klong Saen Sab (The canal of pain). You will get to see the backside of bangkok - how people actually live!! You can get on the boat opposite Central World Plaza (near the junction with petchaburi Road).

6. Go to a spa/massage it's cheap and you're gonna love it. Most of the hotels will have one. Thai massage a must!!

7. Thai food recommend - tom yum (herbal soup), somtam (papaya salad) and phad Thai.

8. Take a Tuk Tuk ride in Bangkok.

9. Watch a Thai Boxing match.

10. Get a tailor made suit/clothes. They are cheap and good.

11. Visit a dentist (if you need to) It's cheap and of high standard.

bangkok is a really awesome place, gfitst of all try to pick a city which is close to the CBD, a good one which is 4.5 stars is Asia Hotel Bangkok.

1. when leaving from the airport, try and see if your hotel will arrange for your pick up, as this is probably the easiest, if not try to find a car service or taxi service that will take you there.

2. make sure to have your hotel destination and any other places you want to go written down on a piece of paper, as english is not spoken by most people, when you arrive at the hotel ask someone at the receptionist desk to write your destination in thai as this helps alot.

3. when getting in a cab only get into cabs that have metered cabs written on them otherwise you are likely to be cheated, you can also take tuk tuks which are three wheelers but heaps of fun, when going in a tuk tuk remember that bargaining is used.

4. there are some really kool temples and sites to see like the largest lying budha as well as the canals but that canals will take approx. 4 hours. if you are interested in cheap shopping try MBK which is literally 5 min walk from asia hotel. pretty much everything is 5 min away from this hotel, there are walking bridges which helps in avoiding the traffic, and will take to to all the other department stores, one mall has designer brands only like versace and guess etc.

5. a great place for great thai food is night bazaar, where you will get great seafood and vegetarian meals at a great price, the best way to get there is again by tuk tuk, and it should cost only 40baht.

6. i exchanged money from the airport, but you can use your major credit card at any stores etc, there are also atms so if you have a visa debit card you can use that.

7. the last bit of advice is to make sure you carry your passport, in order to gain VAT, if you purchase anything above 5000Baht you can claim it when you leave, so when purchasing goods ask the shop assistant if Vat is claimable etc, then when you get to the airport you can claim the tax you pay.

The exchange rate is pretty much fixed and you can change mone outside any bank. They have a kiosk where a person will do the exchange for you. Sukumvit is the main drag and where the Farang (foreigners) are.

Off Sukimvit

There's lots of western food establishments all over. And plenty of stands around. Phad Thai and curry shops everywhere. Tips aren't expected but accepted.

Most apartments require a two months deposit on an apartment here. I would try a service apartment lots of them located throughout the city some even have wireless Internet, fitness centers and swimming pools. All are furnished with cable TV and some with kitchen units.Google service apartments in Bangkok. cost about 18,000 to 35,000 baht a month. all have security guards for what they are worth.

Go look around some temples - find some gold budhas. The national museum is good if you want to find out a little bit about the culture and history of the place.

actually - go on a tour of one of the water markets - very tourist now, but well worth seeing. If you're round KoSan (? forgotten the name of it now - the main backpacker area) road all of the little shop/hostel places have tours.

go to the night bizarre at Lumpini park....btw, you say three days but I count only 2...:-(

Eat fruit from fruit cart! Try the pineapple!

exchange at the airport is a fair exchange; or at the malls...eat Thai food by all means....try Hua Pla Chong Nonsi which is super good food; it's pure Thai but I think you can just point to menu pics and order; try the soft shell crab in yellow curry; it's wonderful....and remember to smile!

And remember to ask the taxi to "goat meter" or, "chai meter"

(use the meter) and don't use the tuk tuks unless you have too...bring your umbrella it's rainy season!

Finally take motorcycle taxi's they are the best!

If you like shopping the weekend market is good but wear your walking shoes as you will be there all day, also watch out for taxi and Tuk tuk driver who say it closed and try and take you somewhere else we ended up doing 3 stops at jewelers ,tailors before he finally got us there.

a lot is in the previous answers but the best market is at lumpini park it is brilliant and there is an outdoor restaurant that is massive with a band on stage and if you go on a friday you can even go and see some thai boxing at the stadium next door

bangkok? you could go see theit temples and the temple of the reclining buddah..its nice there :]..or you go could go shopping..if u want the more expensive one go to siam paragon and if u want something cheaper there's this place called chatochak..(i dont know how to spell it,sorry)..and i think there are some elephants there,you could go see them too :]..or you could ride their local taxi,the "toktok" (i think) anyway,there's a lot of stuff to do..you can ask a tour guide or your hotel to give you some advice :]
