Was Jesus the high priest of his coven?

Now that i have your attention and your Knickers are all twisted up, let me explain:

A traditonal coven is made up of 13 participants for the 13 moons of a year. This has been the tradition since the 1920's.

However, if God is all knowing and new this would be, why did he send his Son to hang out in a coven working magick? 12 desciples and a high priest working magick and holding gatherings... sounds like a coven to me.

I never though of that. Makes you think.

  • I guess if you want to think of Jesus the Christ and the Disciples as nothing more than 'witches' ------- no wait.

We are told in the Bible to not practice witchcraft. So the answer is, no, Jesus was not the High Priest of a Coven.

    Nice try though :)

In Judaism, all numbers have a significant meaning. That is why the Hebrew letters have a corresponding numerical value. Which does not denote the position within the 'alphabet' like in the English language.

    Here is an example: 40

= A Mikveh (ritual bath) must be filled with (40) measures of water

= In the story of Noah, the waters surrounded the world for (40) days -- so that just like when a person leaves the Mikveh they are ritually pure - once the waters subsided the world was ritually pure

= the Israelites left Egypt as slaves, by the time they got to Mt. Sinai they were G-d's Nation - that took (40) days

= The Israelites wondered in the desert for (40) years, during that time they learned to leave the Egyptian life they knew behind and become G-d's Nation

= According to the Talmud, it takes (40) days for an embryo to form in a mothers womb

    13

= The Hebrew words for “love” (ahava), “care” (de’aga), and “one” (echad) all have the numerical value of 13.

= kabbalistically, it indicates an ability to rise aboe the influences of the Zodiac and cosmos -- 12 signs of the Zodiac (12+1=13)

    11

= Negative Meaning of the Number 11 ~ (1 + 1 = 2) ~ Jezebel, The Whore of Babylon (as the keeper, body, or witness of "strange doctrines"), also: Judgment and Disorder

    = 9/11 - 9 + 1 + 1 = 11

    = September 11th is the 254th day of the year: 2 + 5 + 4 = 11

= 111 days left to the end of the year.

    =119 is the area code to Iraq/Iran. 1 + 1 + 9 = 11

= The first plane to hit the towers was Flight 11

= State of New York - The 11th State added to the Union

    = Flight 11 - 92 on board - 9 + 2 = 11

    = Flight 77 - 65 on board - 6 + 5 = 11

Now ask yourself, is there some "higher" connection, am I a conspiracy theorist, or is all of that just pure coincidence

True the "traditional coven" is supposed to be made up of 13 and true it was said that it was because of the moons, which was the way "pagan" people observed time. They just didn't have calendars for the common people back then. But, all of this "tradition" isn't found in any historical writings till the Church started killing people for heresy in their many Inquisitions. There really isn't anything to show that truly ancient pagan people ever gathered in groups like that. It's mainly sensational propaganda from a group that saw enemies everywhere.

Finally, someone who has realized the significance of the 12 disciples! Covens have been around for thousands of years and Jesus was a well traveled and educated man when he came back to the Holy Land to begin his spiritual teachings. Also, the magik of today is not quite the same magik that they performed then. Or, at least, what most people think of as magik.

Jesus was a great leader and prophet, and he was imbued with the knowledge of his life on the Other Side that everyone else forgets when they are incarnated.

No, Jesus was not in a coven, he was Jewish. The idea of a coven being made up of 13 members, based loosely on the cycles of the moon, is really speculation and theory on the part of Margaret Murray, who published in several books including "Witch Cult in Ancient Europe" theories of witchcraft groups and matriarchal societies who never really existed. Most of her material is speculation.

Judaism does not have covens, nor groups similar to them. Judaism in that time did not practice what we would refer to as magick in modern terms. Some sects of judaism did practice, and some still practice. a spiritual system known as the Kabbalah, which is a ritualistic system that may modern magickal traditions take some influence from, but as a system of divine energy and spirituality rather than being based on judaic theology. This was something that was in practice durring the time period in which Jesus would have been in Israel, but it is doubtful he or his group practiced this, as they were most really part of the synagogic church structure. Jesus spoke out against the hebrew church structure at the time due to some unsavory practices done there, incuding using the churches as banks and money lending houses.

Christianity predates the idea of the coven. Witches borrowed a lot of ideas from Christianity and twisted them.

Please get your facts straight about the different world religions before jumping to conclusions.

To the other poster - Jesus did not work magik. He is God and His power is divine. He doesn't dabble in the devil's second-rate magik tricks and spells.

I'm sorry, but Jesus hanging out with twelve disciples does not a coven make.Witchcraft is condemned in the Hebrew Bible-and seeing as Jesus claimed to be the Jewish Messiah and believed in the Hebrew Bible, why would He be practicing withcraft on the side?
