Yahoo do not operate a lottery. This is a scam. Here is some further information about these scam emails:

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya... Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Just remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

No, it hasn't driven me to other sites...but it has made me very wary. And very sad. I was away from the computer for a long time. Just recently came back because there's a lot going on in my life right now and I need the distraction. And the sage wisdom of people my own age who made it through similar situations. And just simply the familiar lightheartedness and chuckles that were always abound here in Y/A Seniors. As for the one who causes so much trouble, I'm sorry to see he's still around. And it's crazy that he's been getting away with this for years now. Wanna hear something funny?.....I finally got my first two violations~ever!~within the last month or so. Didn't hurt me a bit, lol, but there's no doubt where they came from. Thanks for posting this question and giving everyone a chance to speak out. It's been a while since I've seen some of these long-time members...and there are even a few other familiar faces/names who acknowledged their approval by leaving stars. Have one from me, too, Spike. You earned it!

As the other answers point out, this is a typical lotto scam email. Like anything else, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, and these types of emails (similar to the Nigerian Advance Fee Fraud scams) are no exception. The best thing you can do is just ignore or delete the email. More information can be found at http://www.scamorama.com/

Thank you for posting that and I simply share your craziness about that. I just hope that after few months the most stupid person is who send that as an e-mail to you and millions other people... Hmm.. How many want to share all this info?... May be some killer or a paedophile

100% SCAM. Yahoo doesn't have lotteries or cash giveaways. If they did, you can be sure there would be a LOT of advertising for it all over their web sites. Just delete that email, and any others like it that you are likely to get. DON'T click any links in it, and certainly DON'T reply to it.

    hehe, don't be fooled buddy

    this is a fake scam

If it leads to South Africa then it is most likely a scam since South Africa is know for having people try to send personal information to them to commit idenitity theif.

i strongly suggest that you do not give them anything

Don't bother answering the e-mail because it's nothing but a scam to get information about you and then they will try to use it ........Like I said to someone else earlier..."If it sounds too good to be true"..........It usually is nothing but a scam....... and like Elmer Fudd say's...."Be vewey vewey careful"...."ha ha ha ha ha"

    These emails are fake.
