What is "old school" food and drink to you?
We are in our late 30's and having a party that we have themed as "old school." Let's say ages 35-45 make up the median age of adults in attendance. We are trying to determine what food to serve. Someone mentioned Little Cesar's Pizza, Tab Cola, California Coolers, etc.... What food and drink should we serve? Include where we can get it if it's something obscure. How old are you?

What you have listed there is modern *new* school.
For old school, I would go to a greasy spoon (if they even exist anymore) and order take out fries and hamburger with a milk-shake.
For that was the food of two or three decades ago (now it is strips of steak on a salad, and some other things I can't make sense of - as food is becoming more opulent, it is losing its property of being intelligible - in plain English, it is fancy, but I have no idea what I am eating).

How about a retro dessert, either a mix of candy like pixie sticks, fun dip, now and laters, or anything else you remember eating as a kid or some sort of dessert that was popular in the 80's. The ones that jump to my head are jello cookies, something called sex in a pan (it had layers of pudding, cream cheese and something else) or the cake that had the holes poked in it with jello poured over the top. (I'm thinking basically any dessert involving Jello is retro.) I think amazon.com sells the retro candy in their grocery section and you could probably find jello recipes on their web site. I'm about the same age as you so I'm going by what I remembered as a kid. Sounds like a fun idea for a party. Hope it goes well!

B&J Wine Coolers. You should be able to find those in the cooler section of your grocery store or alcohol store. And Bugles. I know that's more of a snack item, but they were HUGE in the 80s.
And I'm 28.

Chicken Kiev and prawn cocktail always makes me think of when I was a child, I'm 31, so that should be roughly around the right time.

If you're thinking retro as "old school", then don't forget a few Zima's.
For the comedy value alone.
