Dealing with a co-worker?
This co-worker I have to sit close to keeps hijacking my conversations. For example, someone will come to my area and ask me something. While we're engaged in conversation he'll say, "What do we owe the honor of your visit?", or "How come you were at work so late yesterday? I stayed until 8:45pm".
I need a quick reply thats direct, to the point and not open for interpretation. It's happened three times this morning and the mornings not over yet.
I’m totally down with the pie in the face routine and borderline rude comment. However as PC and CW dictate, I decided to tell him, “go find your own conversation”.

Just smile and say 'be with you in a minute', and continue your conversation. He'll get the hint.

I like Megan Bs answer. It is not only polite (in case he really doesn't realize what he is doing), but it also shows anyone who is within earshot that a conversation with you is important and you won't allow someone else to interfere. It makes the other half of your conversation feel important, it puts the violator in his place without being rude and it makes you look articulate and polite.

occurred to me till now. every person in the workplace had heard each thing I instructed one in each of my acquaintances/co-workers. for sure, I now no longer confided in that guy or woman. ordinary I purely form of stopped speaking with human beings at artwork till it became into straight away on the subject count of artwork. in the commencing up it somewhat injury me. Now, I comprehend that it somewhat is barely the way that guy or woman is and that i'm no longer able to believe my co-workers to maintain something to themselves so i do no longer say issues anymore.

I would look him right in the eye and say "I don't remember inviting you into this conversation." He is a bully and should be put in his place

i would say "look man, honestly you're really starting to get on my nerves by jumping into every one of my conversations... i've been trying to ignore it but it needs to stop." Pretty simple solution...
