Did you see your husband/wife before you were married on your wedding day?

Supposedly it's bad luck for the groom to see the bride on the wedding day before they are officially married, how many of you followed that tradition or did anyone take the risk lol....

Update:

I don't believe this tradition, I don't believe in bad luck etc, I think you make your own luck, I'm just asking out of interest.

I was wondering about his too as we are getting married next year and live together. We have 2 children and if he stays at a mate's I will have to get up early and sort the kids out, aswell as get hair/nails/make-up etc done...but if I stay at a mate's I will have to trust him to make the girls look pretty as they are both bridesmaids !!!! I think we will spend the night together and I will take the girls to the hotel where we are getting married to get ready and leave him to get ready at home.............what a dilema !!

Yes we saw each other and even slept together the night before, I don't believe in all that bad luck stuff I'm like you I think you make your own luck.

We saw each other throughout the day b/c we had a beach wedding and the room the girls were getting ready in was right outside of the ceremony spot and the guys had to set it up.

We are very happily married 4/20/07

We don't believe in that myth. We did see each other - it's our cultural tradition to have a family blessing for the bride and groom at a parents' home, so we had that at my mom's house, then went to the ceremony. Wasn't bad luck, because we've just celebrated 18 wonderful years together!

We don´t believe in bad luck either, but I figured, with as much money I spent on hair, makeup, and my dress, I wanted an element of surprise for my husband to be.

Our limo picked up the wedding party from our hotel-we hadn´t seen each other all day, and the night before saw each other up until almost midnight-including the groom, and we were going to wrap a scarf around his eyes. Since we were running late, and I trust him, we didn´t do this, he just kept his eyes closed-the best man kept urging him to do so. The limo drove us to the chapel, the groom was lead inside, and even talked with the minister keeping his eyes closed the whole time.

The results when I walked down the aisle on my Dad´s arm-my husband cried! He was kidding with me before the wedding about crying, and he ended up being the one to cry. He was so shocked that I looked as pretty as I did, and was happy that I insisted on keeping his eyes shut.

I don't believe in the whole bad luck thing, either. The actions you take on your wedding day are not going to dictate the marriage.

However, when my fiance and I are married next month, we're doing our best to not see each other for the ceremony. We're not concerned about bad luck, but we want that special moment to be at the ceremony.

    To each their own!

No we did not see each other. The last time I saw him was after the reahursal dinner was over and the next time I saw him was when the doors to the church opened. I would do it again the same way. It was a great feeling with the anticipation. We did live together but he never saw the dress or me in the dress until the doors opened. We both agree it was the most amazing feeling. We would do it again.

I saw mine, that morning when we were finishing up stuff at the reception, We needed guys to move stuff and it was impractical not to, and we saw each other for pics before the ceremony, which I'm very glad we did b/c it made things go very smoothly and their was NO gap between ceremony and reception to bore my guests with. Also, it made actually getting married easier, I was more at peace with it than being a ball of nerves! I agree, you make your own luck in situations like this, a marriage makes it b/c both partners are trying, not b/c you didnt see each other before!

I'm getting married in May and although me and my partner live together i won't stay at home on the Thursday & Friday as my weddings on a Saturday. I don't want to see him at all on the Friday so i'm staying at my mums.

i'm quite supersticious and prefer to follow this particular tradition along with my fella not seeing my dress

    good luck

My husband had friends staying from interstate - we were living together at the time but I moved back in with Mum for a few weeks beforehand. We saw each other a few times, but not on the wedding day. I don't believe it is bad luck at all, but I think it's nice to see your husband's face when he sees you all dressed up walking towards him looking as good as you're going to get :)

we'd lived together for 10 years went to work together in the morning (work at different places but we used to share the same journey) and got married after work at the local town hall, on the 10th anniversary of the day we met. That was nearly three years ago, so we have been together 13 years.

luck is just hocus pocus nonsense.
