Can Christians find the spirit and get around being so literal.?

They must know the letter kills and all the great masters where gentle and kind. What happened. Too much following Paul or others? And what's up with Atheists, is hate one of the rules? Or is that not Atheism, but something else and what? Inquiring minds want to know.

Update:

I guess people mistakenly think religion is mindless, but it's a discipline and as deep as the rest, at least. I can see where coming thru Jesus and his being the only name can have a spiritual meaning. For one thing in Hebrew names where a person's character or attributes, not so much like in English, so the name could be the character as the truth, or God is love. Technical obedience is for man's laws.

Yes the fundamentalist read the scriptures in the manner of the letter that killeth, this is the pharisaic mindset that cripples one into spiritual depravity since they apply these things outwardly forming traditions that prevent them from genuine acquaintance of the true teacher within them.

Yeshua said to apply the key of knowledge which is the way to enter the kingdom, but they take figurative things and project them outwardly, just like the carnal men of Judaism who took the ordinances of God, which were spiritual (to be internalized) and made many physical laws and rules in the place of spiritual ones because they were too literal. Hence they sacrificed animals when God asked for them to sacrifice their lower animal nature within themselves, making it pure like a lamb. The letter that killeth only traps man into the physical, capturing their sight and reason and preventing them progression, where their complacency cripples them then traditions where they can make shortcuts are formed, like literal animal sacrifice in the place of working on your own inner baser nature. The same with Yeshua instead of being as him and manifesting what he is in pattern within your mind and being, instead many use him as perpetual sacrifice so they don't have to live like him. The letter that killeth always ends up reverse to the message from its beginnings.

You mean the quote about the letter of the law kills, and that we are to follow God in Jesus in spiritual liberty.

Yes, it is a shame that more words in the New Testament are about Paul and not about the Spirit-inspiring Life and Teachings of our True Master Jesus Christ !

Atheists are just spiritually stupid; (no great sin) lately there have been some blatant ANTI-Theists here or lucifer/satan followers. In the Infinite Light of Jesus here, there is no darkness at all --poof--all forever gone is all darkness !

Only Light can ascend into Light. Light is Real. Even physical light has mass and is not only a wave --a secondary apparent reaction as is the appearance of sheets of rain in a strong cross-wind. Quantum Wave mechanics need much revision.,

We all must (and will) take the great Truths in the Gospel of John literally and eternally now True !

Great masters ? Only One God in Jesus here in Spirit !

My honest impression is that it is primarily fundamentalists who subscribe to a literalist approach to scripture; I don't think it's a problem with mainstream Christianity. As to atheists, they are apparently a very different breed from agnostics, who tend not have any particular animosity towards religion and are generally well-educated. My experience of self-described atheists is that they have extremely unattractive personalities, are usually lower-class,and hate a great deal besides "religion" by which they actually mean Christianity,of which incidentally they seem to know little and understand less. It is simply a hate-object,and one of several or many, depending on the individual.

God is love. Love is what draws us together, this is why it says that no one comes to God unless the Father draws them. The Father is love, literally! The spiritual body of God is coherent love. Anything not of love isn't of God. If you know this then scriptures are useless because you already know everything you need to know. The technical details are way to much to know, love is experience and the best kind of knowing. From this position of pure love go read the Bible if you're so inclined and the entire book takes on radical and better meaning. Love is the enlightenment.

I agree, the Bible was written my HUMANS. So don't take it so seriously - some of it is just writing down the culture of the time. Also Atheists aren't any more hateful than Christians, just a lot of people on here like being annoying. But if you look a lot of the Christians are the same.

Christians have GOT to find the Spirit and get beyond the fundamentalistic "letter of the law" stuff. If not, they'll never be true Christians.

Jesus superceded all the other laws with His great commandment in John: "Love on another as I have loved you."

Well...if I took it literal to an extreme, I'd be in trouble when I read "judas hung himself", turn a few pages and find "and go do the same."

that's why reading the text before and after is very important...to find the context...and that's why it's important to see how it finds harmony with other Scripture that speaks of the same topic.

But sometimes, it's just dog gone near impossible to find any other meaning than what is clearly being said, such as in John, when Jesus says "No one comes to the Father except through Me." Seems pretty direct to me.

Now..as for hate being one of the rules of atheism? No...atheism has one simple rule...there is no God. I can respect someone who feels this should be his personal philosophy.

The hate comes from bitterness. The hate comes from trying to demonstrate brilliance, but melting into exposing personal ignorance.

Most people who profess a religon and blame it for their bad acts are not living up to what they should be doing.

I think a lot of it is the religious leaders who are not teaching the truth.

Muslims say the clerics are distorting the message of the Qoran.

Well, Christian ministers are distorting the message of the bible.

    Hebrews 11:3-6

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear (are visible).

By faith, Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh (spoke).

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him; for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him (God); for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have ears to hear, you will have just heard that you will be answered if you will diligently seek God. Inquiring minds need to seek God for their answers. He answers me and He'll answer you.
