Why do hamsters jump?

Well my hamster, autema, starts jumping and kinda makin some type of noise when I chase her around while she is trying to run everywhere. I don't know if it's because she gets mad or if it's something else.

Hamsters usually only make noises when they are scared, upset, injured, or otherwise annoyed.

Considering that you're chasing her you are probably frightening her.

usually hamsters jump/leap when they are "happy" so to speak

but she may be kind of scared and is trying to avoid you

she sounds scared, if you have had her for a wile there might be a chance something is wrong, good luck though!
