Help My kitten has a biting habit!?

I have a 2 months + old kitten, adopted without his mother to my house since it was very young. His mother left him without any idea the moment when he was born. We adopted it and doing most of his mother's task of growing him, including feeding a milk. However, when he begans to grow up, until now, he has a very tough biting habits. He just bite almost everything, fingers, neck, nails, legs whenever he comes to me. Maybe he miss the very important time with his mother on being licked and bites between both of them, when he was born.

I would go with a water bottle. Use one that didn't have any previous chemical in it such as Windex. Put some water in the bottle and put the nozzle on stream. When kitty starts to bit, squirt it in the face a few times as cats hate water in their face. Yell too, loud, and let kitty know that you are not going to put up with the biting. You could also use a squirt gun, works just as well!

    Good luck!

I also worked in an animal hospital for 10 years as a kennel manager and worked at a humane society as a kennel attendant for 5 years. I did foster caring for cats and dogs while I was at the humane society as well. I have experienced a lot of happy times and a lot of sad times as well. I try to advise people with their animal issues. I don't tell people what to do.

I hope you're not giving him cow's milk. It can cause diarrhea because most cats are lactose intolerant. In that case the cat will have a stomach ache, which may make him crabby. Don't play with your cat using your fingers because as the cat grows up, the claws and teeth grow, too. If the kitten bites your fingers you can push your finger back into the kitten's mouth, keeping his jaw open until he makes a gagging noise. This sounds cruel, but you only have to do it once and kitty will get the idea that biting is not nice. Cats are smart. At 2 months, he's just getting the hang of chewing, so will chew on almost anything. You can start him on some kitten food at this age. Canned food is good at first and then gradually switch to dry food. The dry food is less messy and is better for his teeth and will promote better muscular development. This will give him something to chew on that tastes better than you do. He may have some "issues" because he's an only kitten and is missing the play fighting time with his littermates. So he's picked you. Biting is not a good habit, so try the method described above. It has always worked for me.

Your kitten has what's called aggressive play habit. you're able to be able to desire to apply toys that have an prolonged cope with with some thing dangling on it or an prolonged feather. do no longer use small toys which you should carry on your hand, they'll affiliate the toy with your hand and the habit will proceed. whether you're making use of an prolonged dealt with toy, If it tries to prevail in up and chew your hand, placed the toy at the back of your lower back for some seconds. This teaches it that undesirable habit has effects - the toy is going away. do no longer puppy the kitten while you're fiddling with it. you're able to be able to desire to spend an excellent variety of time fiddling with him to tire him out. while it calms down, then you definately can puppy it. under no circumstances hit a cat, they do no longer comprehend what this capacity and it incredibly is cruel.

Get yourself a little water squirt bottle. Every time your kitten bites give it a little squirt of water and say NO. Most cats HATE water so I don't think you'll have to do it very long before the cat figures it out. We have 8 cats by the way.

The water gun idea is the best trick to do. Your kitten is much too young to be losing his kitten teeth so it's not that. Kittens are just like human babies, they explore with their mouths to get a feel for things. Just give him a squirt to let him know what is okay and what is not. Buying some plush cat toys filled with cat nip is a great alternative for him to chew on. Good luck!
