The order of the movies chronologically (as per a Star Wars character) follows as:

    1 - Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999)

2 - Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)

3 - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)

    4 - Episode IV: A New Hope (1977)

    5 - Episode V: Empire Strikes Back (1980)

6 - Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983)

Personally, I would suggest starting with episode IV and watching the films in disorder. There IS a reason why they were filmed in this way; George Lucas himself once gave an interview saying that the Star Wars franchise would never be as big as it is now if he had begun filming with episodes I-III.

This is the order you should watch them in:

    Episode 1: The Phantom Menace

Episode 2: Attack of the Clones

Episode 3; Revenge of the Sith

    Episode 4: A New Hope

    Episode 5: Empire Strikes Back

Episode 6: Return of the Jedi

    Have Fun!

Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

You should definitely watch them in this order - the order they came out and not in the order of the story's chronology. I don't think you'll want to watch ep 2 even if you start with episode 1.

The order that they were made in was

    4,5,6,1,2,3.

the first 3 were comic strips before technology allowed for them to be made, 4 was the first block buster I remember going to see with my friends.

The star wars films 1,2 & 3 IMHO are pretty Ham acting, the story very jerky unlike 4 & 5, 6 was a bit off but far better then the first three.
