Thats Great! If you have been maintaining the car and it does everything you need it to do , keep it. If its been acting up (shifting weird, needs AC work, engine smoking, sloppy handling, etc.) you may want to start looking. Cars built from about 1990 and on have come along way in reliability. Most Cutlasses should get 170-200k before major maintenance is needed.

The Olds Cutlass is a tried and true platform with cheap replacement parts and alot of familiarity with GM and private repair shops.

Source(s): Had a Cutlass Ciera Wagon for 5 years and over 210k miles when sold. Car still is running around 3 years later!

As long as the car has been maintained well you got at least another 60k on it.I don't know what engine you have but i have a 95 Buick with the 3.8 and i have almost 190k on it and it runs great the good ol n.y salt has started eating some of the lines underneath which i have had a couple of problems with lately but i never have to open the hood for anything but oil changes and an alternator after 4 years and the engine and tyranny are still original. How do i know? Its been in the family since it had 30k on it.I don't expect it to last forever but it hasn't shown any sign of giving up yet!

Don't know. My advice is that you take everything into consideration. Finances, the state you will be moving to, climate, insurance, cost of repairs....

On a personal note I had a 1997 Toyota with 207,000 miles and it runs good too. I was given a 2001 Subaru with less than 50,000 on it. My old car still runs good - it was passed on in the family.

I hope the below helps you out.

Ask yourself these questions and i know you said it runs good. Have you been doing routine maintenance on it on a regular basis-es. Such as oil/tyranny changes and tune ups. Do you know what shape the engine and tyranny, how is the front end, the struts. Have you had any major repaire bills say in the last year.

Well when you add a turbo onto any engine that wasn't built to be turbocharged you are going to greatly decrease its life expectancy... A turbo forces more air into the engine creating more power during combustion, and in turn wearing things out faster. I so no I would not put a turbo on that car.

    Depends on your financial situation.

If you have enough money for a down payment, and feel like you can support the financing, and would like to purchase a new vehicle, go for it.

If you don't want to take that route, just remember that cars at that mileage tend to turn into money-pits, and that every expensive trip to the mechanic is just keeping what should be dead, alive.

As long as it's running well and is esthetically pleasing to you, keep it! If anything really major should happen to it, it's easy enough to get a replacement either used or new. It is a symptom of American consumerism to simply get rid of something old even if it works, just so you'll have the "latest and greatest". Good luck!

You should expect some sort of transmission failure soon, it has a 4T60E automatic transmission in it. There is a design flaw with the 4th clutch hub, that only alows about 150,000 miles of wear before failure. The engine, I am assuming is a 3.8 V6. Those engines were one of Gm's "wonder" moments, they are very reliable usually up to about 200,000 miles. The transmission is your big expensive problem, unless you have had it worked on.

Keep driving it. If it's not broke don't fix it. Just make sure to keep up on routine matinence like tune ups and oil changes and you could possibly get another 100,000 miles out of the thing.
