What to do if new cat won't eat?
I offered to take in a cat while owners are on vacation. It will not eat. There are 2 other cats in home, but they have been separated now. New cat still wont eat. is this normal? how long should i wait until taking it to vet? can vet do anything?

Cats often wont eat in a new, stressful enviroment (like being in a house with 2 cats it doesnt know). The best thing to do is to isolate it in one small room where it can feel comfortable. Leave food and water available in there, if the cat is hiding (like under a bed) place the food with it and turn off the lights (cats often feel safer eating in the dark). Not eating for a day or two will be okay, as long as its drinking. If not, or if this is an old cat, contact a vet asap.

So how long have you had the cat? Are you feeding it the food the owners feed it?
How many days, weeks, or months will you be watching the cat?

The cat is sad and nervous about the new surroundings and owners aren't around. They will be okay.

if it doesnt eat for 2 days, u shud take it to e vet.. he/she probably not used to e new environment. its normal but unhealthy for e cat.. my cats fell sick when i left them with my aunt. they wont eat or anything. i had to call my sis to fetch them back to my place and got her to pop by everyday to feed them.
