The Prius is the best of these cars, in fact I think it's by far the best car on the road right now. It gets the best mileage (50 mpg city and highway), is reliable, roomy, and comfortable. And most importantly to me, it's the greenest car on the planet:

Behind the Prius, I'd rank them like this:
Civic hybrid
Corolla
Civic
Sentra
The Corolla and regular Civic are close, but the Corolla gets slightly better mileage and is a bit cheaper. Prius is the best by far though.

I've test-driven all those cars when I was looking for a new daily-driver. While all those cars are good choices, I finally decided on a Toyota Prius and I'm very satisfied with my decision. The reason why I chose the Prius is because it is the lowest-maintenance of all those cars: - The Prius has a non-shifting planetary-gear transmission that is much simpler than the trannies in all the other cars. Which means it's very long-lasting and low-maintenance. (The other cars use either conventional or belt-and-cone CVT transmissions, which are more complex and require more maintenance.) - Since the gasoline engine isn't running all the time when you are driving the Prius, oil change intervals are far in between (5000 miles using dino oil, as opposed to 3000 miles on dino oil for regular cars). - The brake pads and rotors will last 100,000+ miles because they are not used much-- Most of the timeThe Prius uses regenerative braking instead. - There are no alternators, starters, or spark plug cables in the Prius. Less things to wear out and need repair. The other benefits are cool too-- drive-by-wire controls, touch-screen electronics, as much interior space as a Camry, and needless to say, great fuel economy. The Prius is an excellent daily-driver car.

I bought the Corolla. Reliable, good gas mileage (38 mpg) and I like the options that came with it. Also, I paid $99 over dealer invoice by negotiating with the salesman over the Internet. And his dealer cost matched the Kelly Blue Book numbers I had previously looked up.
But why buy new? As a new driver, you may be better off buying used since insurance is a major factor. Check with your agent to see what they quote you for each of the cars. Again, look at the ways options like side curtain air bags lower your rates. Check Consumer Reports for their recommendations. You would be surprised at some of those they don't recommend like the Mercedes M class.
My second choice is the Civic but the last one I sat in didn't feel right to me; which is why you have to make a personal choice, don't trust anyone's opinion without test driving each car.

Buy American. The cars are just as good as all of the foreign cars. Check out one of the small block Mustangs or maybe the fusion. Great cars. Guess what there are so many toyotas and nissans you would be different and show your indivuallity.

hi.since you are a new driver,i suggest that you buy a used car first.i am not under estimating you.this is the best practice because, your pocket will not hurt,in case you scratch it,bump it, drive it on big humps.think of it as a bump car for you. practice makes perfect and not a new car
