    Escapee or Fugitive, probably depending on how long they've been out, and how the news outlets want to spin it.

    Not necessarily "Escaped Convict" as I've seen in other answers. You have to be convicted before you can be a convict. As a minimum, you only have to have been arrested and charged with a crime to be in jail. So contrary to other answerers comments, "Escaped Convict" would not be an accurate statement 100% of the time.

    A reason to move... Nah just kidding. You could say fugitive but that doesn't necessarily mean only a person who escaped from jail. A fugitive could be anyone running from the law. if you want to absolutely 100% politically correct I'd say "Escaped Convict."

    Escapee (or escaped convict) is probably the best answer. A fugitive is anyone who is wanted but not yet apprehended.
