United Health Care Question: Preexisting Condition?

My dad hurt his knee in July but hates going to Doctors but he can't take it anymore and needs serious treatment (possibly a torn ACL). My mother got insurance in August and now my dad thinks he needs it checked out. Because the injury occured a while ago- will that be considered preexisiting? I mean if the man was waiting for the coverage he would have gone in as soon as her coverage began but he is stubborn and now needs to go. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Update:

My mom started a new job in May.

Do not tell them it is pre-exisiting!! They could choose not to pay for this. I went through an issue like this and was told the only way the insurance company knows of pre-exisiting is by the patient disclosing the information. Take it for what it is worth.

If there is no official diagnosis on record, then no, it won't be considered "pre-existing." There may, however, be a "waiting period" on his wife's insurance policy that might not yet be expired...it's important to check.
