Do you honestly believe GWB is a good president because "there hasn't been a terrorist attack since 9/11"?

While there may have not been "another attack" as far as Bush's supporters are concerned, in my opinion, he is ZERO FOR ONE in preventing the WTC from being destroyed.

Fine, there hasn't been one SINCE Sept 11, 2001, but WHAT ABOUT THAT ONE? The man was completely asleep at the wheel for the nine months leading up to the attacks, he ignored warnings and intel briefings, and even cut the FBI's counter terrorism budget prior to 9/11. Add to that his very suspicious actions AFTER the attacks, such as:

Resisting the forming of an independent 9/11 Commission

Had to be sued in Federal Court to provide necessary files to that commission;

Refused to testify under Oath to that commission;

Allowed bin Ladens family to be the only people on airplanes while the FAA had EVERYONE else grounded;

Directed the US Justice Dept to block lawsuits by relatives of the victims of Sept 11 against relatives (SAUDI relatives) of the terrorists who directly caused their loved ones deaths;

And the biggie, has consistently refused to capture Osama bin Laden, actually stating he doesn't even think about him [bin Laden] that much anymore, symbollically spitting on the memories of almost 3,000 dead Americans, Americans who are dead now, because George W. Bush wouldn't or couldn't do the job he said he would when he raised his right hand and swore to God to protect Americans' lives and uphold the US Consitutition.

I believe that he is a good president because he is not after public opinion.So many politicians are nothing more than menpleasers.When we went into Iraq 95% of americans wanted to do just that.When Bush Sr. didn't go into Bagdad everyone thought he had made a mistake.Bush Jr. does and now he two has made a mistake.You can't please this nation no matter what the president does, or who the president is.I believe that GWB does what he feels is the right thing to do for this nation.That is more than I can say for a lot of polotitions today.

Yup. History is going to be a lot kinder to him than his political enemies ever were. Internationally speaking, Obama can coast on the groundwork GWB has laid for a while but by the end of his first term, somebody somewhere is going to call Obama's bluff and the USA will again have to put up or shut up militarily. I'm betting Obama will shut up so I see another humiliating Jimmy Carter presidency on the way.

GWB and Good president shouldn't be in the same sentence, shame on you :). I believe that the attack was revenge for the war his father started. Bills personal life wasn't the best but at least there were more jobs, and he was going around meeting with world leaders and not just having tea with the queen who is already an Allies. Yes the first attack happen while Clinton was in office, but he just got into office.

No, I think his goodness or badness is determined by his overall contribution to the U.S. People are growing more and more dissatisfied with the war. I'm dissatisfied by the war.

However, I still think that any president would have quite a mess on their hands after the 9/11 attacks. Its hard to imagine what any president could do when such a horrible thing happens. Its a lot to take on.

It doesn't really have anything to do. The attacks don't depend on him and after 9/11 the security measures were intensified. If 9/11 hadn't existed American people would still keep on thinking (as I could see on TV in interviews on the day of that sad event) that America is invunerable.

1st - GWB sucks regardless. There are so many other issues & his lack of effort/concern definitely leaves something to be desired. And 2nd - I'm not sure what to believe regarding terrorist attacks & national security. (I know I'm going to possibly get a lot of thumbs down or be called a wack-o conspiracy theorist, but I'm ready..)

In my 32 - almost 33 years of existence - I don't ever remember there being so many product recalls. Every other day you turn on the news: peanut butter, pot pies, spinach, beef patties, toothpaste, pet food, toys, etc...

The lack of safety in my fridge definitely doesn't inspire confidence regarding national security.

There have been several, we just have foiled them. There have been more attempted attacks on this country's soil in the last 5 years than there have been in any 5 year period in this country's history. And we have also caused more in Iraq by being there than they have ever had in the same time period.

Sorry to answer your question with another question: But wouldn't you really prefer that George Herbert Walker Bush was in the White House instead of his son?

I, for one, would be much happier with the situation. I didn't particularily like his father. But his intelligence, experience, honesty and integrity I would not challange. He was a Navy combat fighter pilot in WWII and one of the youngest. I want someone with solid military background, better yet combat experienced. They know what war is really about and will not send our brave men into harms way without cause or anything short of complete support. And that is good enough for me, though I am personally opposed to the situation in Iraq as well as war in general.

Two weeks after he officially took office, I heard people saying it was his fault that our budget was off and blah, blah, blah. He had just got in office, folks. If anyone was to blame, it was his predecessor, but even then, we are told by God to respect those in authority, because ALL authority comes from God.

When will we as a Nation, wake up and put our hope in God rather than in those in the government? Man will fail you, God never will.
