How often does a cat need access to a litter box?

I'm taking my cat on a longer car trip later this month and am wondering how best to accomodate his needs. On average, how often will a cat need to use a litter box? Thanks!

I would say.....unless you know your cat's ''potty schedule'', then he should have access to a litter box at all times.

I purchased a ''medium'' collapsible dog crate from Walmart ($16) and it's big enough for my cat, plus a small litter box, and probably even a small cat bed.

Perhaps you should check that out. It's something like this:

You can put the seatbelt through loops on it, too.

I would definitely put a little box in the back seat on the floor on top of a trash bag or something just incase, you never know. We have 2 cats that poop like 3 times a day each and pee, just as much if not more, and in the car, they'll probably be scared/nervous/anxious, and may need to use it even more, and you don't want the poor thing to have to hold it if they have to go.

It depends on the age and health of your cat. Usually every 4 hours or so, for a healthy 5 year old cat. Make sure you put an old towel in the carrier, under him, or a pee pad, just in case he has an accident, you can quickly replace the towel with another. Make sure give him water in his carrier as well, so he doesn't dehydrate himself. Cats stress in the car, so expect him to meeeeeeeeoooooooooooow the whole way there, unless he's accustomed to car rides.

If your taking your cat with you on the car trip he would probably need access about every 2-3 hours, it really depends on how his food and water status is.

There isn't really a set average - it depends on how much your cat eats and drinks each day. If it eats and drinks more, it will have to use the litter box more, and vice versa.

It depends on how much fluid they drink....no one can answer this with accuracy
