My cat is jealous of my laptop?
The only time my cat wants to sit on my lap is when I have my laptop computer in my lap... I guess he is jealous? He tries to walk on the laptop, so I move it, and he sits on my lap. Does your cat do weird things like this?

My cat did the same thing. I would get on my PC and she would climb on the keyboard, walk in front of the screen, or even lay on my hands while I was trying to type. All because she wanted my attention. I don't think my cat was jealous of the computer, I think she just thought the timing was right since I was finally sitting down for once.

Mine does it too. Not jealous. I sit still for a long time with it, so the cat knows it's a good time to hang out. Also it's warm and those buttons and the things that happen on the screen are VERY interesting.
The problem is not much room on the lap for a 15 lb. cat AND a laptop.

Cats will sit on what ever is taking your attention away from them. My two sit in my lap when I try to use my laptop so I have to move it out to where they have enough room to lay down. Then they do not want to move when it is time to get up and do something. My lap is for their convenience.

That's so funny and so true! My cat is jealous of anything that I'm doing. She gets in my lap when I'm trying to read a book or newspaper, write, type on the computer, or even when I'm trying to sleep. She just loves me I guess. I wonder what she'll do when I have a baby?

Mine does exactly the same thing, but she manages to press keys that I don't know the function of. I am forever having to try to work out what she has done and undo it - numbers appearing instead of letters, toolbar disappearing from the top of the screen. This usually means re-starting my computer. Once though, she was a genius. I was playing a Sherlock Holmes game and had got stuck on a puzzle, which resulted in a safe being opened and the game moving forward. Had been trying for ages, cat trampled over the keyboard, hey presto, safe opened!

My cat bugs me when i'm at the computer. She sits on my lap and walks on the keyboard. She even sits on the mouse so I can't move it. Sometimes she will sit on the floor while i'm on the computer and she stares at me until i tell her to come up and sit with me.

Yep, the cats like the keyboard. Sometimes when I'm not even at the computer one of the cats will sprawl over it and I'll have to come shoo her away cause the computers is making irritating noises. And then I have to back out of stuff she has gotten into. I could not understand why so many times my computer would get ITSELF into Windows Explorer... At least now I know her furry little paw was pressing the macro I have set up.
My male tub of lard will generally make a pain of himself by deliberately getting between me and whatever (book, tv, monitor). But he is such a sweetie that its hard to fuss at him TOO much.

My cat has sussed that the fan vent on my laptop chucks out some nice warm air, so he'll sit right next to me with his head resting over the vent and his front legs stretched out over the keyboard, like some great fat tabby sphinx.
Mind you, what he types is often better than my efforts !
