Whats Up With Butt Sniffing Cat?
My neutered cat Tigger is harrassing my unneutered cat Punkin by constantly sniffing Punkin's butt. Poor Punkin keeps moving away and acts annoyed, but Tigger is relentless. This just started about a month ago. Punkin just turned one in Sept. Could it have anything to do with Punkin's becoming an adult cat? Tigger used to hate Punkin. Now the butt sniffing. Help!
Olivia, I forgot to say they are both male cats.

Neutered or not they say hello with the butt sniffing. My two are neutered, brother and sister and the only cats in the house and they still sniff each others butts to say hi. It's like they expect to find someone new in the house.

Cats, like many different animals, use scent to p.c. out others. each and each cat his very own diverse scent which identifies it from different cats. Cats don't rely only on sight for id. I had 2 clutter acquaintances and while one grew to become into exterior and the different interior, the cats could hiss at one yet another interior the path of the glass. they could in basic terms end while they could scent one yet another to verify the id of a chum and not an invader!

Well probably Tigger was nuetered properly , I sorry. Maybe Punkin is going into heat and Tigger is getting her started to go into heat and so Tigger and Punkin can mate and start a family.
