Why is it "humble" to believe in a higher power, and not simply the abdication of personal responsibility?

I've just seen a few too many questions lately where atheists, apparently, think they're god.

Adam and Eve held the same assumption. Would it be safe to call those two, the first two atheists on the planet? Isn't that where all this mess (allegedly...) started? I'll tell you what humble is. A cow. Yep, I coulda been a dragon, an impossibly gorgeous woman...but I chose to be humble, I chose to be an aquatic jumping cow.

To be humble to a higher power actually means that the person recognizes that they become even more responsible to determine the difference between right and wrong in personal responsibilities. Unfortunately there are a few dictators that want to force their views on everyone else which means they have misunderstood their higher power, unless of course that higher power is Satan.

God has given you free and unrestricted choice. However, you are totally and personally responsible for the choices you make. Each choice you make either brings you closer or farther away from God. So it is preferable to avoid anger, violence, injustice, ingratitude, prejudice, greed, and all of the myriad addictions that bind one's soul to the earth and separate that soul from God. Once removed we should remember not to return to these bad habits or flaws. Valentinus said, “Do not return to eat what you have vomited.”

It makes us humble if we believe in a being who is so much greater than us, just like it is makes us humble to think how small we are in comparison to the rest of the universe.

It is not humble to believe in a higher power.

I sincerely doubt any atheists will think they are god. Just because atheists do not believe in supreme creature does not mean they think they themselves are omnipotent.

I can be humble, yet still have the personal responsibility to make my own choices. No one forces me to heaven; I have to choose to get there through my faith and belief in Christ. It takes personal responsibility to have the necessary faith.

Whether there is a God or not has nothing to do with humbleness or anything. It only has to do with truth.

IMnotsoHO, it's the abnegation of intelligence, if not it's complete abiosis.

I find myself agreeing with Francine, (it's a miracle!) in that I can see where she can confuse the terms gay and god/.....

By reason, if an atheist is a true atheist, then he/she IS God because they are governed by their own Consciousness.

I'm the one and only true god. The rest of you are poseurs.
