Can you get a stainless steel ring re-sized?
Ok so you all might think I'm werid but I am getting my boyfriend a promise ring for Christmas and I don't know what size his finger is. I mean it's not like I can ask him. So I was wondering if you could get a stainless steel ring re-size. Because the smallest size the ring comes in is a 7 and I think it might be to big. Well please help me!!!

To my knowledge, you can't get a stainless steel ring "resized". Even if you could, it would probably cost most than buying an inexpensive 10K gold ring, which could be resized. The cost for resizing sterling silver is also more than resizing a gold ring.

stainless steel can not be resized, neither can tungsten and titanium. I work in a jewellery store and we always tell our customers to present the ring in the size that is your best guess, and the style you like. If the ring doesn't fit, as long as it isn't worn it can be exchanged for one that does fit. Your best bet would be to talk to the store where you are buying it and see if they'll do the same.

Yes you can. I bought my fiance a silver engagement band, but it was too big. I had to take it to a shop to get it resized properly.
But I would highly recommend just getting his ring size first. It cost more to resize it than the ring was worth! Of course, the ring didn't cost much by itself...the engraving and resizing added up though.
Oh yes, we went to several places to get different price quotes for resizing. One chain store, I forgot the name, refused to do silver because it wasn't a precious metal (too snobby for my taste anyway...nor would they do my white gold engagement ring because it was an heirloom...psshh)
It's not weird to get him a promise ring at all! Hope this helps.

I don't know about stainless, I don't think it can be sized.
I would just go with white gold, and then take him along to get it sized correctly.
Of course, there is always silver.......expensive jewelry is for men to buy!

find out what his size is. are you going to buy him an engagement ring later on, too???
ask a jeweler if it can be sized. otherwise, you take it back and exchange it.
