Will a personal genetic remote control bring balance and zen to the universe?

If genetic modification for humans was as easy as changing the channel on the TV, could this balance the human civilization creating a truly global nation? If you can be physically and mentally whatever you want and change it to your hearts desire, what would anyone have to be angry about ?

I do not think happiness is in control of everything within one’s range, it is in finding things in life that one can accept and peacefully live with, things that give us sense of belonging, permanence, and security.

With a ‘personal genetic remote control’ people might get terribly angry if they would not find any of the channels to the best of their satisfaction, contentment or delight. They might run riots with it, and end up forgetting who they are, what is home channel. There might be lots of people around gone nuts, or there might be companies making money out of promises of the best genetic simulations ever on contract through cable, or satellite. I think it would be better if that ' Zen of the universe' would find some other means for its balanced manifestation in the world.

That would definitely level the playing field! I really like the idea, and it may happen someday despite the fact that there seems to be a lot of trepidation about it right now.

It depends who is in control of it.

It sounds like your utopian ideal would produce soulless drones and soft determinism.

    No. It wouldn't work.
