Why don't more people from other cultures read Essence or Ebony magazines?

Blacks, Hispanics and other races read magazines like Vogue, Cosmo, Harper's Bazaar, etc. Don't you think that if we each read a magazine or watched a television show from another culture it would bring us closer together or at least allow one another to see that we are not that much different? (Of course you can't read those in another language or watch telemundo if you don't spanish). Do white people watch shows like "Girlfriends" or "My Wife & kids" or "Everybody Hates Chris"? I ask because I know people that watched "Friends" and "Seinfeld" and neither of those shows had black people on them as regular cast members. Your thoughts?

Update:

In response to Craig C, Vogue, Cosmo and other magazines of their ilk are not geared toward the general population. Open them and see that they are specifically for middle to upper class white women. As for Ebony or Essence not having anything to offer white America, that is not true... It offers you a window to knowing what other people are concerned about, what interests other cultures. The latest issue of Essence had interviews with current presidential candidates... How is that not relevant to all of America?

I do browse through Essence Magazine sometimes at the library.I don't care for Vogue,it's boring.i also watch Eve & I'm a big Eddie Murphy fan.

Source(s): Are you also aware that "Latino" is not a race. Most People I see on Spanish TVare Caucasian Latinos. They fail to show the Diversity of Latin America,as there black,Asian,Native & mixed people there.

The reason is that the magazines you mention are specifically geared towards black people whereas magazines like Vogue, etc... are not specifically geared toward any one race. The same goes for the TV shows.

Like it or not, Craig C. is right. I have picked up the Magazines you talk about and found them utterly boring. Sorry. Maybe if people of other races were willing to talk to white people we would begin to understand one another..

Those magazines are written for a target audience, blacks.

These magazines have nothing to offer anyone who is not of black heritage. Plain and simple.
