what your describing sounds like a variation of the blaster worm. that was the first one's name...its still haunting the net. ...I'd say get a copy of winPE (bootable windows) back up your data, and reformat your computer.
I believe theres a hot fix out there...but if you only got a minute...I looked and looked, I was unable to find a file for you. The microsoftKB says to run windows update...a lot of help as usual, thank you bill gates.
if your not sure how to do this there is a lot of work involved in doing this...I'm not sure what you do for work but I've always helped co-workers fix there computers...even when I was working as an IT professional.
My process if you can wing it is this.
Make sure you have your windows XP install cd.
obtain a copy of winPE
1.put winPE in your cd rom, as soon as your machine turns on.
2. press any key to boot cd, press any key you'd like I use space bar.
3.allow to load.
4.if data isn't an issue start at 5.
5. put in windows XP cd,
6. press any key to boot cd, press any key you'd like I use space bar.
7.allow to load.
8.read menus.
9.remove partion, create new one.
10.install (quick ntfs)
11. REMOVE NETWORK CABLE. as this worm is propegated through the internet.
12. buy a router* if you have one, do a factory reset on it.
13. plug network cable in...
14. if that dcom error comes up again, how ever unlikely you'll need to get someone more experienced (on-site) to trouble shoot it out.
...as I said if you got a job, or a hobby, ask around these friendly social places for some help. Most people that can handle doing this stuff, don't mind it, and will work for beer, and pizza.

Is this on a laptop? It sounds like an auto shut down from a low battery program.
Is the battery fully charged, and are you using the power cord when this comes up?
Try booting into SAFE MODE by hitting the F8 key at first boot.
See if it will run OK in safe mode, as far as not shutting down.
IF it does, then you need to hunt down the program or setting that is causing the message.

good call WJ..
it sounds like the w32.blaster.worm that came out a couple years ago...at any rate, its a windows buffer overflow exploit and there is a hotfix you can download from microsoft, and put it on a USB Key, 60 seconds should be enough time to pop in the usb key and run the hotfix, this will stop the computer from shutting down, then you can fix the rest from there.

nicely if hes doing all of it day long in his parents basement, then confident. i be attentive to ton's of fellows that fix desktops for relaxing, and in case you met them you does no longer evaluate us nerdy in any respect.

Seems you will have to reinstall windows.
Why don't you try to migrate do linux. It's far away better. I suggest you to experience Ubuntu Linux.
