Would Oregon be number 1 if Dixon didn't get hurt?

This is a no-brainer. Of course they would be, and Dixon would have a Heisman on his mantle as well. It's astonishing how much one player meant to that team. With Dixon they averaged 46 ppg, without him... 18! (excluding today's game in which they had the luxury of a month off to get a new, young qb up to speed). They would have been in the title game and probably would have won.

To wcbase - Dixon probably won't be a good pro quarterback. What difference does that make?!? Being a bad fit for the pros didn't keep Tommie Frazier, Josh Heupel, Gino Torreta, Ken Dorsey, Chris Leak, etc.......... from winning natl. titles and it wouldn't have kept Dixon from winning one either.

i think so, because they were looking great with dixon and then it all screwed up because he got hurt. but i think they would have been in the top 3 for sure

Absolutely not...Dennis Dixon will join a long list of overrated QB's in college that wont amt to anything in the NFL. That Oregon team was not that good, who did they beat? Michigan? Ooooo they got beat by Appalachian St. also. Their defense is brutal. That is just not that good of a football team, no way they should even be in the top 10 even if Dixon wasnt hurt.

Very possible. They have been a much different team since losing Dixon, even though they seem to be winning easily today.
