Problem With Maytag Gas Clothes Dryer Not Drying Clothes?
I'm having a problem with an older model Maytag clothes dryer. When I first turn it on everything works fine. Gas Igniter glows which seems to heat up to the right temp and allow the flow of gas through the valve and ignites the burner. Flame fires up and heats the drum. This works great for a few cycles but after a couple of cycles the flame igniter comes on ready to light the burner but the burner never lights? If I let it sit for a while it’ll go through the dame cycle again and then stop working again.
Anyone know what the problem might be? Any suggestions would help?
Thanks for looking at my question!
I have checked the vent and it is clear all the way through.

Even thought the ignitor is working on the first pass it may not be pulling enough amperage to continue to work during the cycle. It msut pull about 3.2 amps for the gas valve to consider it safe enough to open. I would replace that first, just be careful as they are very brittle and break easily.
Since the ignitor is trying to work during the cycle that tells me that the thermostat is working fine. I would bet on the ignitor.

Have you checked the exhaust vent piping? It may be clogged. This makes the dryer overheat and the safety sensors shut it off. Basically, a clogged vent stops the heat from exiting so the dryer sensors think the load is finished.
