Go to the vet it could be diabetes also. Is she also drinking gallons and peeing the litter box full every day?
If it is diabetes go to felinediabetes.com for help. over 4000 members with diabetic cats.
Cats on a species appropriate diet will fill up faster and be healthier. This will not help your problem now there is something wrong that needs treatment but the diet change would be good for any of the health issues mentioned.
Avoid dry food like a plague. It is the leading cause for feline diabetes, kidney failure, UTI's, Crystals in the urine causing blockages. Also obesity and many other problems.
Cats swallow most of the dry food if you look at their barf it is whole and a few of the pieces shatter. The vets feel it is good for cats teeth because the pet food reps tell them it is!!
My vet agreed that cats are obligate carnivores. Meaning they need to have high protein diets with under 10% carbs and dry is not good for them and then tries to sell some to me!!!!!!
Please read the first link to see everything I could write to you and decided to let an expert tell you. then chose a food that is canned from the 2nd list that meets the high protein low carb.

To be honest, don't bother with prescription food. Most of it has terrible ingredients and is a waste of money. Try Innova Evo, Natures variety instinct, wellness core or a high quality kitten food. Just make sure the food you choose does not have corn, wheat, soy, or by-products. Most pet stores carry a high calorie dietary suppliment for cats. This should help as well. good luck

Hyperthyroidism is extremely common in older cats (over 8 years) and one telling symptom is eating ravenously and still losing weight.
You should have a vet check for that possibility.

She should have worms. This has been going on with my cat also. You need to take her to the vet, they will give her something for it. Worms take the food your cat eats before she can use it.
