Roman Catholics.?
When is the last time you looked at the Catechism of the Catholic Church?
Look at the second answer. Its important that Catholics know what it is, and why they should at least use it as a reference when considering issues if they consider themselves Catholic. This ultimately stems from my experience with CCD and the like, where the Catechism is never mentioned. Most CCD is utter garbage......but anyway. Just getting the word about the Word out, so to speak.

Every day, when I answer questions here. Most of my answers are based on the CCC.

Are you referring to the Catechism of the Catholic Church or the Baltimore Catechism? I think you are referring to the Baltimore Catechism but maybe I am wrong. My parish hasn't used the Baltimore Catechism for CCD in over 30 years.
I'm not sure what you mean by "the second answer" in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
In the Baltimore Catechism, the second question is "Who is God". The answer is very simplistic and in my opinion isn't very relevant in adult conversation.
Anyway, I think you should be more specific. It seems to me (my opinion) that the question as it is asked probably belongs in the "polls" section of this board.
But to answer your question, I refer to the Catechism fairly regularly. At least monthly.
In CCD, we use a book series by Harcourt named Call to Faith.

Concerning your drawing attention to your second answer: If you want to make an example of someone, make an example to follow, not one to humiliate.
Yes, too few Catholics take advantage of the Catechism but, as you pointed out via lax CCD, it may not necessarily be the individual Catholic's fault. Their ignorance of the Catechism may be the result of poor religious instruction. Therefore, it's wrong to single out those who are unaware.
Make positive examples out of those answerers who know what the Catechism is and use it frequently.

I've read about a month ago. I'm planning to read it again in the next couple of days. The reason why many Catholics don't use the CCD as reference is because the Bible is good source for our teachings. The CCD just lists those things, we just like to list the source.

I look things up in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) every day to answer questions and I almost always provide a link back to the CCC for further information.
The CCC can be found here: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/index.htm

Not often, The liturgy is what matters. Check out Universalis.com has the liturgy of the hours all the time. Really that is what it's about. It's about allowing the scriptures and thousands of years of refinement to enlighten and show that Real Religion is Actual and you know it's real. I would suggest taking a reasonable high dose of any entheogen, LSD is probably the safest. Then read the liturgy and see if it is real or actual or really actually the words of someone who knows you better than you could possible know your self. The written manual to your nervous system, mind, and spirit, authored by the Almighty Father. If LSD sounds too much, look into binaural beats, brainwave entrainment, for easy no frills induced meditative states. Brainwave generator is a good one... bwgen.com and the setting Awakened Mind, It's a reasonable faccimaly of Anna Wise's Awakend Mind work done with the Monroe intitute. I hardly ever read the Catechism. or much ism period. I prefer to help myself know god.
Source(s): cistercian monastic life, Order of St. Benedict. Born Catholic always will be, but I don't believe everything I read or hear from any carbon based life form. People have done their best to keep the scripture intact and the catholic church has done most of the hard work of getting the translations from aramaic greek latin etc... and finding the real meanings of things like a Camel passing through the eye of a needle.... a Camel was actuall a homonym in hebrew for a large rope. =) - Anonymous1 decade ago
it's been a long time. good question, I probably should take my catechism book out. what is the point to your question?

Last summer. I took it with me on a trip to Italy. I read the whole thing, and read sections of it in various blog discussions.

Well, not as often as I should, but I have read it. It's like the Bible to me. You should read them both and be able to develop your own moral code based on your readings. You don't need to be able to quote it word for word. They are tools not weapons.
