Giardia in kitten?
I think that my kitten might have giardia. She started diahrea about 4 days ago and she threw up 4 times. About 2 days ago I noticed that she wasnt eating as much as she should, and was skinner. She also had a small amount of blood in her poop. So i gave her some roundwormer but it is still there. I am going to take her to the vet tomorrow. I was wondering the cost of a fecal test for giardia and coccida. She is about 9 weeks old.
I was so worried that she was throwing up and not eating, but it was saturday and the vets were closed.
What would be the price range for a fecal test?
Also, what does the fecal test, test for. Does it test for all types of parasites?

giardia is a hookworm and hard to get rid of so its very good you are taking her to the vet. The price will vary among vets..but 9 weeks old she definately needs a vet for this. Make sure you clean the litter box very well, since if the eggs in her feces gets back into her body, she'll get worms again even after a vet treats her.
my vets fecal cost $40 but my vet is more expensive than others around me. You can call and ask and go to the cheaper one. yes it checks for any kind..but eggs aren't always found in the stool even though they might still be in the intestines thats why usually a fecal goes through 2 tests the more accurate one is called a float test. its all the same price though. this description might help.. http://www.animalvetcenter.com/cattapeworms.htm

If your kitten was not tested for worms, she probably has them. If you suspect giardia, you need to specifically have that tested, as that test is a bit different from a normal test for worms.
Any remedy that you get at a store will usually be ineffective in treating worms, as your vet will have the best medicine. Even though the output is runny, take some along to have it tested.
The small amount of blood in the feces could be a result of stress, as she is going through a lot right now.
A typical test for worms can be anywhere from $10-20 US. I don't know about giardia. If the test comes back for worms, I might hold off on the giardia test, as that is less common and may not be needed assuming your cat goes back to normal. You can discuss that with your vet.
